Let me first say that I rarely leave a negative review. Really, you can see the many public reviews I've left on Google Maps. I had stopped here for lunch about month or so ago, and enjoyed the char siu and rice I'd had. I was excited about returning for dinner with my wife to try the many delicious sounding things on the menu. My wife and I finally had an opportunity tonight for an early dinner. We arrived and were seated just before 5pm. We promptly ordered egg rolls and char siu buns for appetizers, and then my wife ordered the chicken cordon blue, and I ordered the beef filet mignon with truffle sauce, cooked to medium rare. Our apps came out shortly thereafter and were fantastic. When our entres came out, I was disappointed that my filet was less than a half inch thick, however, it smelled wonderful. The disappointment only grew when I cut my first bite only to find that the skinny filet was cooked to medium well. I politely let our waitress know, and she headed off to the kitchen. She returned a few minutes later to let me know that the kitches was out of filet. While this made a bit of sense as what I'd been served was a runt of a piece (for $30), it should have never left the kitchen. Running out of filet early on a Saturday night!? Our waitress offered me the ribeye instead. I asked if it would be larger, and she ensured me that it would. About 15mins later, my ribeye arrived with a side of fries. Trying to hide my further disappointment, I patiently cut the few edible bites of meat from the mostly gristle and fat. At least 70% of the "ribeye" was inedible and left on my plate. See photos. Our waitress could tell that I was less than thrilled, but no apology or discount was offered. We'd planned to purchase pastries for a family gathering tomorrow, but I couldn't stomach any more potential disappointment. We were so hopeful that Saigon to Paris would be a new favorite spot. ...
Read moreFirst time here. Ordered pho, which was pretty good, as well as a "grilled" pork rice plate. The pork wasn't really grilled, more like cooked on a griddle. I do like how thinly sliced the meat was. However, it would be nice if I could actually find decent lemongrass grilled porked like I've only experienced in California. This pork didn't seem to be marinated with anything. It's almost like an american pork dish. The fish sauce provided with this this dish was one of the most basic and plain tasting I've had. I can typically judge how good a Vietnamese restaurant is just by their fish sauce. This one was just plain fish sauce with little color or texture. Usually, there should be little bits of stuff in the sauce like shredded carrot bits and chilies, etc. Also, the quality of the pork could've been better or at least trimmed better, as there were significant chunks of fat and waste.
Also, seeing the nasty, dust and dirt caked air filters right above our tables gave me a sense of feeling that if they don't care to change their air filters right above the tables where customers eat food, that they probably lack attention to detail and cleanliness in general, and I can imagine what I'd find in the kitchen, fridge, etc.. The filters and vents above the tables are so caked with dirt that some of it falls on the table below where customers are eating.
I wonder why the owners would wait so long to change the air filters. I guess they don't care about poor efficiency, higher energy bills, nor for the health and comfort of the workers...
Read moreWife wanted to try this restaurant hoping to find food similar to her home. She ordered the duck while I struggled with the menu. I settled on margherita pizza while making a mental note of their ingredients. My wife was served and waited five minutes for the server to bring her utensils to eat with. She's a slow eater, but was still able to finish before I was even served. The pizza was just an ordinary Americanized cheese pizza.. as an Italian I am disappointed. She didn't enjoy the duck. We asked for chilli oil or cracked red pepper. They had neither and provided chilli powder. Their reply about being busy isn't true. They were not. The fast food comment was unnecessary. Now I no longer feel guilty about leaving a bad review, you guys truly deserve it. For the record, in Italy the pizza of choice is margherita and no it doesn't take long from prep to bake nor does it have a long bake time. You skipped the tomato and basil. What you served was just a normal cheese pizza. Treat your customers with respect. Own your mistakes and do better. For a better example of Italian food or pizza check out Cosmos's on 41. Chef Leo can make a proper margherita pizza. For Vietnamese I'd try Noodle Saigon or Lemongrass. Any French restaurant on fifth would be a better restaurant than this. For the record, The reason I struggled with your menu, was due to many of the foods listed showing the wrong or missing ingredients. Non scherzare con un...
