After checking out of the children’s hospital yesterday I felt inclined to write a good review on my experience this past weekend. My husband and I were in Philadelphia for less than 24 hours when we found a huge lump on the side of our three month old babies neck. We were transported by ambulance to Nemours and the women in the ambulance were amazing-very sweet and even consoled mom on the ride. We ended up in the emergency room and got immediate care. Big shout out to Katie and Nick in the ER who helped us with anything we needed, NICK was so good with the baby and even cracked a few jokes and made us smile in a very stressful situation. After most of the day and the emergency room and seeing different providers, we were admitted and got into a room upstairs. The room was fairly big and I slept on a couch while my husband was able to request a cot. There were too many amazing nurses to name who took great care of our baby girl and us parents at the same time. Shoutout to our nurse Jayme who helped mom and dad get an ( almost) full night sleep after we were up all day and night for a few days. She found toys for the baby and fed her bottles and changed diapers and rocked her to sleep while we were able to get some much-needed rest. Our baby had to be sedated for the MRI and the whole team did everything they could to put mom and dad at ease and we even got to stay with our daughter while they began to put her to sleep. we always felt informed about what was happening next and always felt like ext and always felt like we had a voice and what was going on. The communication between providers and us parents was incredible. Our daughter ended up needing surgery and it was incredibly stressful having such a young baby. We always felt like she was in good care and are so thankful for every single person at this hospital for taking care of our family during a very stressful weekend as new parents. As a breast-feeding mom, they even offered me breakfast lunch and dinner and came around in the morning and offered coffee. The cafeteria is actually incredible for hospital food and reasonably priced. Thank you again to everyone at Nemours for taking care of Lyla and our family. I wish I found thank all of the wonderful providers personally!

Our experience has 9/10 times been excellent! We've been using this hospital on occasion since having children and they're now 17 and 19. Our one son is in college and living away from home but if he wanted to continue using one of the doctors there he could, until 21, which is nice to know. Certainly a different experience than when they have to go over to Christiana care. They may have good doctors there but the children's hospital has always gone the extra mile. Our younger teen has been under the care of the Pediatric Rheumatology Department since 2014, and they have always been well researched, thorough in answers, and respectful to us. I live with the same illness my son inherited, and I feel the doctors always respect MY perspective and experience of living with the autoimmune disorder. They haven't ever tried to talk over us or appear to know everything. I've always felt that there is mutual respect between us. Other positives about the hospital are the valet parking, and that's been helpful whenever I didn't feel well enough walking from the parking area and if my husband wasn't able to accompany us. There's more security at the hospital now I noticed. There's a small coffee bar as you walk into the main entrance and that's convenient. When younger my son used to like us stopping to get popcorn or a cookie when he was finished with his appointment, now it's me wanting a coffee and baked good, lol! Last but not least, I like how the front desk offers directions and assistance to help you find where you need to go. I've felt fortunate to have this hospital in the state and have been willing to make 25-30 minute drive whenever my son has an appointment. *Note: if there's ever been something I was displeased with at times, it was some of the "housekeeping" issues. I know hospitals are busy, but this is where there's so many germs and diseases that the least of my worry should be whether things have been picked up and wiped down!

Do not bring your kids here you think they care about your kids and they might but when they do something wrong they only care about them selves and will throw your child away like trash, they forgot to put my sons seatbelt on and he fell out of his wheelchair and is still not doing good because they lied and said there was no seatbelts but there was 2 and only care about protecting the hospital and the workers your kids are not safe they will be hurt or worse please don’t take them to here or any or locating,we need justice in this country and hospitals should not get a pass the worker needs to be charged and the president of the hospital needs to be charged and fired so please help do whatever you can to make this happen and also stay away to make sure are kids have a future ,thank you and take care of your kids

ATTENTION PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS!!!

THIS HOSPITAL IS LOOKING AT YOUR CREDIT REPORT AND YOU MAY BE UNAWARE! About 4 years ago I noticed during an appointment check-in at a kiosk that my child's address had been changed in the system to a mailing address that had absolutely nothing to do with our residence. I was not consulted nor had I given authorization for the change. They even started reporting that address to our insurance company without consent or verification from me. I immediately reported this inaccuracy to hospital staff and was told it would be corrected...it never was. Over a period of several months I spoke with staff in different clinics during appointments informing them the address THEY changed in the system was incorrect and needed to be changed. I called them out about checking my credit report to get that address in the first place since I only used it for work, to which EACH and EVERYONE of them denied that ever happened. Lies! There was no way they could've gotten that address without looking at my credit report. Eventually I filed a complaint with patient relations and ultimately was contacted by their security person who confirmed that YES they did in fact look at my credit report!! Understand that I do NOT owe this hospital any fees and never have. I have neither requested any loans or payment plans nor have they extended me any offer for credit or discounted services. So WITHOUT my consent why are you checking my credit report??

Eventually I was able to get it rectified but why did I have to go through almost a year of aggravation for something that I never authorized for an address for which I never resided?

Fast forward to March 2023, ONCE AGAIN they've changed my child's address to a mailing address that has nothing to do with our primary residence! This address was never verified by me nor did I authorize the change in the system. So ultimately Nemours Children's Hospital will check your credit and make changes as they see fit without parental consent or authorization. THIS CAN'T BE LEGAL?! Since I've already discussed ths with someone in their Patient Relations office and got no answers or the promised call back I have no choice but to go to the next level with my complaint. I've discussed this with an attorney to better understand my legal options and will be pursuing next steps.

This hospital is very deceptive and dishonest to the people who depend on them most to help their children! My advice is to read Nemours privacy policy before signing blindly in the electronic signature box at your next appointment. Also, check your credit report for "soft" pulls with Nemours...

I had such high hopes for Nemours and have been told since my eldest was an infant that Nemours excelled in pediatrics.

This is not at all what we experienced.

The campus itself was nice, and the woman at the desk when you first come in through the parking garage was very kind. But I am quite disappointed in the doctor my infant son saw.

My son’s pediatrician referred us to the gastroenterology doctors as Nemours for a few reasons - food allergies, mucous in the stool, and slow weight gain.

Background: When my son was two months old we discovered he was allergic to cow milk protein. So he was put on a hypoallergenic formula, which seemed to help a bit, but he was still having lots of gas and discomfort. We tried two others and he didn’t tolerate them. We finally found one he did well with and couldn’t figure out why it worked when the others didn’t…Turns out it was because the others had corn solids in them, which he is apparently sensitive/allergic to. The one he’s on now does not contain corn. My son’s pediatrician said the GI doctor could likely get the formula that worked covered by insurance since it’s medically necessary.

The GI doctor at Nemours seemed to entirely dismiss all this, and said there’s no way he has a corn allergy, and she told us to try amino acid formulas (which, by the way, contained corn, which my son is allergic to). I explained we didn’t need to switch formulas as the one we found he’s doing great on. She refused to acknowledge this.

So we moved on to how his stool is very mucousy. She tried to say it’s because we switched up his formula so much, yet he’s been on the one that works for over two months now. The doctor didn’t seem to listen or care about our experience, and didn’t seem to want to help.

I live over an hour from the hospital and now it feels like such a wasted trip, and our bill for the visit was ridiculous.

We will never return to Nemours or any of their facilities or doctors. From our experience, they don’t care. They’re not open minded. And they are not knowledgeable. Your experiences and your child’s experiences and health concerns will be dismissed.

Do better, Nemours. Our children...
