Outer Banks Fishing Pier — Attraction in Wanchese

I have a long time love for this Pier! My family has been renting from Vikings Court for at least the past 20yrs if not longer. I have so many memories of my grandfather who would get up early and walk over to the pier to read the paper, bs with owner, and what he loved the most was people watching lol. I will say the only reason I ranked it 4 stars is bc we used to always feel like family when we came here. Since the restaurant, it is more about business for the restaurant then the pier its self. For example this year we didn't go out on the Pier to fish or even observe. Which we have ALWAYS done, my bother I swear spent days sleeping out there lol. I know it may be covid 19 related, which I understand but I truly felt Fishheads restaurant put themselves 1st in front of the customers...

Drove in from Richmond on 9/24/21 to fish and when I got to the pier at 10pm and tried to go out some guy named Less turned me and a friend away telling us there were to many drum fisherman. We found out shortly after that there was only 14 guys fishing and he happened to be one of them. Guess he would rather keep the fish to himself then make the owner money. Sad that one person can affect a businessman from making money. Maybe the owner should make sure that the guy running the counter should make decisions and not the guy fishing. Probably will not come back here to fish and it's a shame since I have grown up fishing this pier. I also wont be coming back to Fish Heads either. I don’t usually write reviews, but our experience at this restaurant was so unpleasant, I felt it needed to be shared. From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed uninterested and borderline rude. We weren’t greeted properly, and it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests.

When we asked simple questions about the menu, the server responded with impatience and attitude. It completely soured the mood. Food aside (which was okay at best), the way we were treated made the whole evening uncomfortable. Hospitality is a huge part of dining out, and unfortunately, this place failed miserably.
