Pros: We camped in loop A over Memorial Day weekend. The campground was quiet and the sites were nicely spread out. The host did a great job of keeping the bathrooms and showers cleaned. It was nice having the beach so close by to swim. And it was a nice beach too. Alot of the sites are right on the water and have great views.
Cons: There is only one restroom & shower facility for Loop A. The other one is indefinitely closed. The one restroom/ shower facility that was open was very dated and not family friendly. It was near impossible to shower with a child. The push knob was very difficult to use and the water pressure was awful. The water almost evaporated by the time it reached my toddler. My family and I were also very put off by the closing of the entrance and exit for the weekend. While we do understand the need for traffic control, we felt some measures were causing more danger, like closing the turn lane to the campground. We only needed to leave once to get more ice. In fact, we had to leave because there are no amenities or stores to purchase from while on the campground. The ranger chastised us for leaving. We also learned some vehicles were turned away and asked to circle again and enter later. WHAT? The time it took to explain this, you could have let the vehicle in. This policy only creates more traffic on the road. We wanted to visit the visitor center, but it was closed. When we did visit on Tuesday, the dock to walk out on the water was closed to disrepair. We booked 3 campsites for the weekend. Our family will not be back. The facilities...
Read moreLoop # 1 we've stayed on loop 2 several times we had our first trip on loop 1 Memorial day weekend 2021. Our experience on loop 1 was much different. All sites stated to be flat & definitely were not. Drive on steep hill with major drop off at road. Caused water to run right thru the fire pit. The staff was rather rude & didn't seem to want to provide any help with any questions. The bath house was over run with bugs & when mentioned to the staff. I was told the bugs were bad this year. We went & got bug spray & sprayed it Friday morning & it was much better all weekend with little to no bugs. The showers took 20-30 minutes to get hot water in the showers. I was not as impressed with loop 1 as I was loop 2. I've left my previous review up because it is a different loop.
Previous experience. Loop #2 sites # 89, 88, 86, 85 & 84 Nice large sites with plenty of room between. Full to semi shade on all of our sites. Large driveways with large sites. Very nice large beach area with semi private water behind the site. Plenty of room to play & fish. Bath house on loop was updated with nice doors & stalls. 1st one I've seen with motion detected showers &...
Read moreAlthough our campsite was beautiful, I will never camp here again. In our loop, Loop 1, one bathroom was totally closed for maintenance. The other bathroom was never cleaned - wait, correction, a ranger came in each morning and put cleaning solution in the toilets, but that was it. No floor sweeping, the showers were so filthy, I drove to another loop to shower. I figured out that our loop had no camp host, so the shower house just wasn't cleaned. I paid just as much each night as folks in other loops, so I want the same service. I drove to Loop 2 for showers. It was cleaner, but only one hook per shower, no benches, nothing to set anything on. So that's the main reason I am so unhappy. The other is that check-in time is at 4 pm. We arrived at about 1:30. The only way we could check in early was to pay for the night before. I could understand this if the campground was full, but in our loop it was less than ten percent full. I paid the extra because I had to get set up and be on an on-line...
