LA's Cool Swing Creek Trail: Perfect for a Chill Hike

I couldn't speak more highly of this place. I came here on an invite with some friends to do some mountain biking, and already I'm planning my next visit. The park has plenty of open areas to bring the family, and has plenty of hidden trails for hikers and cyclists. If you plan on riding a bike through the brush though, be sure to wear some gloves and shin guards, because those thorns will get you good.

Not really sure why it’s called Walnut Creek Community Regional Park... I’ve always known it as Bonelli Park/Pudding Stone Lake 💦 anyways, I love this park! I proposed to my wife here! I’ve also grown up coming to this park so it has a lot of meaning to me 😎 beautiful place to ride your bike, have picnics, take hikes, and so much more! Love it!

Though wildlife has dwindled a bit and the water levels fallen some since I was a kid, it barely detracts from the fact that in a fastly urbanizing area of Southern California within the borders edge of Los Angeles County sits a little hidden gem called Walnut Creek. While to us locals this isn't too much of a secret it is none the less a nice little pocket of nature with ponds and running streams that the hiking trails move right next to and across through that provides a much needed retreat from shopping centers, fast food restaurants and crowded traffic riddled noisy streets. A place where you can actually sit and think in peace with only the sounds of nature and running water to accompany you. While it may not be the biggest area next to another popular San Dimas destination like Puddingstone Lake and it's surrounding trails and parks it does offer more privacy and less people if a nice peaceful and contemplative hike is what you seek, or perhaps you are just looking to get away from the crowds and the everyday noisy hustle of a city where your mind can relax and you can enjoy a leisurely hike beautiful spring/summer day without going to the mountains or canyons and embarking on a more demanding hike that usually comes at a cost of no cell phone coverage as well, which, should you get lost or hurt yourself in anyway, puts you in a bad spot when trying to recieve help. All in all I'd highly recommend Walnut Creek for a pleasant and leisurely detour to the normal city grind to be replaced with nature and a relaxing environment as well as an easy and fun hike for those looking for something more casual...

Been coming here for a while and started coming back since I have a bit more time now. This place is nice and peaceful and shaded for the majority of the hike down the Antonvich trail. The path is quite wide sometimes, but when it does get narrow, be careful for other people as I have seen quite a majority of people not wearing masks here.

The trail follows the creek that runs through this area. There is other trails along the trail that serve as a more challenging experience for the more innate hikers and actually makes the hike a bit more fun for me. There are also points where you have to cross the creek, so if you're not careful you can step into the water, so try to bring some extra socks and shoes just in case. You can also see some nice houses with horses along the journey.

The trail spans for around 3 miles I believe and is not a loop. So when you reach the end, you have to walk all the way back. There is an area about halfway that is another parking lot with a picnic table.

All in all, if you can try to avoid people not wearing masks, you can definitely have a great...

STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE A BOAT!!!!!Don't wash your boat or spill a bottle of water in your boat or let rain water in, or run over a puddle of water on your way into the lake or run your motor before bringing it to the muddy hole. The 18 year olds at the gate with no experience in life will turn you away if they find a drop of water in any area of your boat, regardless of where the water came from or how many years tour boat has sat in your driveway or that the bunks are completely dry, or the fact you have dust and spider webs all over your outdrive, not that those kids would know what a outdrive was!!!! Ugh!!! After sitting in traffic for over 2 hrs just to get to this nasty muddy hole that has to have the most disgusting water I have ever seen, and warnings posted about not eating the fish in the lake, we were turned away by the Lake and their highly intelegent highly skilled highly educated staff! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AT...
