Happy Birthday Month to me and Family! We decided one outing was going to be the Bill Pickett Rodeo! Actually my dear friend from Rochester advised this was number one on her list! Website stated rain or shine alrighty then! My son is here from Korea this is going to be nice. He’s a true cowboy! Hat, Boots, music and all. Since this is a large event we were all cowboys and cowgirls excited and dressed head to toe to match the event! Two SUV’s full of family members and when we arrived it began to rain heavily! But tickets were paid for boots, hats and the such, we are going in rain or shine! Parking was par father course! A long ways from the entrance. Check. Part of the way was concrete, part was sandy and gravel! Eeek I was not the only one who wore sandals no problem right dry your feet. Question why is it the way from the parking location to the arena was mixed with gravel and sand? Hmmm not a good idea. Check. Get to the ticket booth, several people inside No problem customer service was okay. As we waited for the autos to be parked we noticed groups of people who mind you know the system!!! They walk up and wait for the ticket booth to get busy and Security oh my words! Security she was literally behind the building on the phone texting or reading what ever she was doing her head stayed bowed down as I stood there counting ten, eleven, all the way to 30 people rushing passes the ticket booth and the Security! Now I thinking about all the money we paid for out tickets and these people are walking in in droves! Then I hear someone from the ticket booth shout we are Sold Out! The rest of our party arrives and we walk and we walk and we walk. Only to be told to go to the other side. So again we walk and walk more muddy and sandy puddles with people and children walking on the wrong side and others standing in the path pushing those who need to get by further out into those muddy sandy puddles. We are now asking where are the guides? Where are the police they should have to keep people and things in place? This place is great in size and we only see 1 police officer! People are wall to wall! One person in the group could not get her walker down the walk way! There were zero seats the spaces were one could have sat people were saying that’s me Friends seat that’s someone’s seat. No seat when we paid all that money for the group. Not one person could sit or stand to see the Rodeo! Food was so expensive but who wanted fight the crowds along with the muddy puddles. This was a awful event due to lack of security, police, ticket booth awareness and most of all Arena Planning. Should be better access to the arena without all the sandy, muddy places. People will always try to sneak in events so when you charge a entry fee ? Make certain your paying customers get what they paid for! Post police officers who will Not be on their phones who will do the job! Spend the funds needed to make walking and parking easier for your customers to come into your location. Food looked and smelled great! They needed a larger number of vendors to accommodate for the amount of people lines were too long and wait time for food was the same! All and all this was horrible because of the things listed above. With those things corrected this would be a nice place...
Read moreI took the kids to this horse park to try something new. I enjoyed it. Some of my kids enjoyed it and some didn’t care for it. They don’t provide horse lessons or horse rides. We saw a free horse show which was cool. But I think the kids and I expected more tricks for the riders and horses since it was a show. It was simply a lot of people in horse riding attire that rode the horse regularly like they were on a trail. No special tricks or anything to showcase actual horse riding talent. I know because I used to ride horse for years as a child. I would hope in the future they do some stunts or tricks to showcase how talented the horses and horseback riders are. Anybody can simply ride a horse if the horse is walking slow. There’s no playground. They do have indoor...
Read moreAt this horse park the Georgia Quarter Horse Association (GQHA) held the Stars & Stripes show June 28 - 30th and the Big A show July 2 -7th. The shows are AQHA, NSBA, and GQHA approved. Both shows are AQHA top 10 shows. All I can say is congratulations to the Georgia International Horse Park, the GQHA, the families, trainers, participants and their horses, as well as all the suppliers and vendors for making this event a success. Spirit, strength, fortitude, courage, endurance, a determination to succeed and a no surrender attitude; pick one or pick them all and it will surely describe what is necessary to see an event like this through from...
