This park wasn’t the nicest campground as far as Oregon state parks go. Of all the campgrounds I’ve camped in the State of Oregon this one was the most run down. Needs new bathrooms and showers they are dingy and in need of paint. Very cramped sites. Lots of mud when it rains near parking spots. The location is good next to Sunset Bay. I would not recommend this area for tents too rainy and too shady to dry out gear. I wouldn’t camp here again. No cell service in area if your not Verizon, barley Verizon. I didn’t care about cell service, because it’s nice to get away from Google trying to brainwash us. Anyhow there was a campsite with a tiny home and an awkward person who constructed a chain link fence around his tiny home on wheels. Sort of a weird thing to see in a campground. Not sure what was...
Read moreGreat place to go enjoy the Oregon coast. It is a semi protected half moon bay with natural beakers at its mouth. Why I would say it is semi protected some waves do make their way around or over the large rock outcroppings. Relatively shallow and mostly sandy bottom. You can take a nice walk along the beach or if you can brave the colder water a swim. Just down from there is a place to hang a volleyball net or play horse shoes. A mile or so farther down the road is Shoreacres State park which is a nice place to walk through in the spring because it is a botanical garden and definitely worth seeing in the winter around Christmas for the light display the community puts together. Sunset Beach is a great little getaway anytime of year and I highly...
Read moreI happened to get here when the tide was WAY out, so all of the tide pools were exposed and the water was super calm. It really was a fascinating sight. But this place really is great to get out on the beach, especially if you don't mind there being quite a few people. The restrooms are nice, there are plenty of picnic tables and fire pits, and since it's a really shallow cove it's a great place to swim! I've never swam here myself, but I'm told the water tends to be warmer than most of the coast. There's a great campsite with yurts available across the way if you wish to stay longer. It's really pretty here, and it's a great place to enjoy the beach. I don't think you need a parking pass, but I'm not 100% sure. I've never...
