I've been taking my dogs here to run because there's a large expanse of well maintained grass, stairs leading down to the waters edge, and a shaded area where I can sit and give my thirsty dogs water that I bring from home.
The first few times when we ventured down near the waters edge, it was filled with unmentionable bits of refuse and bad smells. Last week, the waters edge was about a thousand percent cleaner but only a week later, it's on it's way to being questionable again. Discarded fish skeletons with heads attached, detritus reminiscent of overturned trash bins, etcetera, have sadly reappeared. As I care about my animal's, I follow our cities leash laws. but yesterday, a man had both ends of the unleashed spectrum; a tiny puppy and an elderly female. He actually had to pick the elder animal up because he was worried about her around my dogs. Ugh. I suppose my point is to be prepared if you bring young children, (Who were flying kites that day and having a wonderful time!) I guess the loose dog's were only a worry around my leashed ones... Read moreNice park where the statue is at is nice. Go to the edge where the water is and it is so dirty with alot of plastic. To the left of the statue, The greenery is way over grown, the steps are all falling apart and alot of trash. The park has so much potential but if humans don't do their parts like keep trash out of the water, bays, & oceans. Corpus Christi is beautiful, just needs a alot of maintenance, makes you wonder what the city officials are up to with our taxpayer money??? I wish people were better about disposing their trash and fishing materials and care more about nature and the animals. Clean Up...
