Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center is a wonderful place to see the history of the Columbia River and how it has progressed to what it is today the mighty Columbia River. I took my family to see the laser light show which is absolutely fantastic. The last time I saw it was over 20 years ago and it has blown me away with the lazer lights and the storyline and the truth and history that it relays. What I found more impressive was my kids and grandkids were absolutely mesmerised and paid attention 100% of the time to the storyline and the lights and I think that is fantastic. What's really interesting about this laser light show is the dam lets out water over the spillway and it comes down and creates a backdrop and that is with the lights and the lasers shine on to making it is a marvelous spectacular show. The sound is great for all to hear, plenty of parking but can be a bit cool at night (bring jacket). Get there early plenty of seating and it's a real joy for the whole family from old to Young. My family has decided to make this a regular thing each year... Family tradition!!! Thank you to all the staff of Grand...
Read moreVery informative center. Helpfully lady at the desk.
Lots of photos of before during and after dam construction.
Stories from some of he locals affected by the building of the dam.
Tools and what they were used for and how.
Plus a selection of books (however the Eastern WA area isn't covered as well as the Western WA area. Which is a shame, considering the dam is located more in the Eastern area...) The books range from children's stories, to geology, wild life and plant life.
Really wanted to see more information with actual maps of the area or river flow before the dam. However they didn't have them but, what they did have included just before the dam, (but only, right at the dam area,) to where the ice flooding was more prominent, to after dam was finished with large photos.
Overall, there was still a wealth of information, (including how to make a solar over and even a few solar recipes) even...

Endorsed by Roosevelt with fervent nod, A beacon of strength, with grace, it awed, Its power surged through wartime’s urgent need, A force that spurred the nation’s noble deeds.
A tribute to progress, with price so dear, For lands were drowned and displaced the seer, A monument to human ingenuity, Yet, stilled the salmon’s ancient fluidity.
And still it stands, in might and power rare, The Coulee Grand, beyond compare, A testament to times both old and new, In Washington’s embrace, ‘neath...
