I took my 4 year old here. We always drove by but were never around when it was open ( HOURS ARE CLEARLY POSTED)
Its affordable, and SUPER interesting. The Museum guide asked me if i wanted a shorter version of the tour with me having my son with me and I had him give us the whole shebang.
I found it really interesting. There was so much memorabilia and the guide was very knowledgeable. They have a HUGE train set in the back that drives through a mini version of the city and the mountains, with little notes. my 4 year old LOVED that and the guide let us watch it go around a few times.
The trains outside are fun to climb on and he really enjoyed that. This is such a cute affordable thing to do as a family....
Read moreI wanted to take my grandson to the Cowan train museum on his 7th birthday because he loves trains so much. It was wonderful! He loved it. The staff was so nice, very informative, and my grandson especially loved being able to get on the train outside. He even got to see a train go by, while we were standing on the train, from down the mountain and he got so excited. He loved everything inside and outside. He told me that he wanted to go back next year. We, for sure, will be back next year. So please don't change anything, but maybe a bigger gift shop. Thank you, so much for helping a little boy have a great birthday and his grandmother loving to see his face light up...

It's places like this that keep the old railroad era alive, especially for the children. This is the first we have been to where you can actually go on or in the engine or even on a flat bed. My daughter loves trains so this was a treat. There is a miniature model train where the kids can go in the center of a bubble and watch it from there. We go to see two CSX trains go by...
