We were in town for the weekend from Northern VA visiting friends and I happened to discover this place while wandering around with my 3yo husky on my own with some time to myself while kids were off adventuring with the other adults and doing errands.
Finding this indoor dog park just 5 minutes around the corner from our friend’s house was the best gift of my weekend. It happened that there was no one using a private room when we stumbled upon this place and Jon let us use the facilities for the weekend as a special member. We scheduled our Sunday visit through their website chat and they were so accommodating when I had to change the time we originally had planned to visit. Jon met us to let us in on Sunday and I am so grateful because we had a 4 hour drive home and it was great to be able to run my husky right before the drive so he’d be tired and relax the whole way home (which he did).
They looked closed at first on Saturday when we first discovered the place, but Jon, the owner came out to greet us. I told him our story and how we don’t have any indoor dog parks where I live in Northern VA. I keep saying to my friends I wish there was an indoor dog park near us for rainy or too-cold-for-me cold days, but sadly there’s not. I don’t like to take my dog to dog parks because the uncontrollable variable of other dogs that are untrained and inattentive owners, have not been taught proper manners, etc. so finding an unoccupied dog park at home where I can let my dog run free is hard.
Jon was very accommodating for my situation and I appreciate so much him working with me to fit us in the schedule to be able to use the private room. I could tell cleanliness is paramount in the facility and Jon took time to not only show me the SOPs for cleaning up after my dog but making sure I knew how to properly use all the cleaning equipment and very cool doggie waste disposal system. There are all kinds on toys and things in the room available for you and your dog to play and interact with as well as a dog bed and bench for both of to take a break from playing. It was so helpful because I rarely get to work on actual obedience and advanced training with my dog off leash without distractions. This was the perfect setting for that because we were in a private room and just happened to be no one else in the main play areas at that time. I felt safe being there because there are cameras and the secure door entry system for members only. My only ding would be that I wish there was a double gate type entrance/exit to the private room only because my dog did keep wanting to go to the door to look out, and if he had jumped up in just the right way, he could have possibly pushed the latch that opens the door and gotten out. If we make this trip to our friends more often we will definitely be making a visit to The Indoor Dog Park a standard part of our trip agenda. Thank you again Jon! We will visit again next time we’re in town....
Read moreThe Indoor Dog Park is an absolute TREASURE. Knowing all the dogs go through temperament and health checks before being allowed membership provides such peace of mind. Community outdoor dog parks can be nice, but we've run into our fair share of bad dog owners who don't correct their dog's behavior and do nothing to train them resulting in insecure, reactive dogs that don't know how to have positive social experiences.
The Indoor Dog Park has a large open area, and a small dog side if you choose to keep your small dog separated, but usually everyone (including my two littles) play all together just fine without incident. Owner Jon provides behavior training private instruction for dogs (owners) who need a little extra support and guidance. If ever there were to be an incident, there are cameras recording 24 hours a day, and the owners DO TAKE ACTION. The expectation is you work on training your dog, or you'll be asked to leave. We've never felt safer.
There is a fresh water wading pool, spotless bathrooms, a water fountin dog bowl for the pups, dog and human snacks, and drinks available. A few times a year, they throw big parties! Notably for NYE, the Super Bowl, Halloween costumes party, AND even a Taylor Swift party where the dogs wore their sparkly outfits!
It's so clean. There are clean up stations located around the park perimeter with battery powered sprayers and scoopers. There's a toilet built into the floor to flush solid waste.
The people that come here have become good friends, supporting eachother and our dogs like a 2nd family. When one of my dogs passed away suddenly, the support of the dog park crew was incredible.
It's been amazing having somewhere to go with my dogs that is temperature controlled, safe, and clean. The owners go above and beyond to ensure...
Read moreThis is Geno, he's a 6 year old border collie and ball IS LIFE for him. We live in Murrysville and we were heading to our local dog park to play when the rain came. I was really sad, I promised him the park and couldn't deliver.
So in chatting with my friend Lindsay and she mentioned this place again. Sadly it's an hour away but I gave Sarah a call to see if I could stop by for a day pass. She said yes, 4pm works to test Geno's Temperament. And he acted exactly how I said he would.
My partner was in Robinson and came up to meet us and we spent about 90 minutes playing ball and resting between sessions. He had an absolute blast, some of the doggos liked to chase him which he doesn't mind.
The place though is something special. They keep the area clean and it gets fully cleaned every day at 3am. They have staff watching the yards during normal operating hours to make sure the dogs are all happy and playing well. It makes me feel WAY better than going to a run of the mill dog park.
If only this place was closer we'd be a member but plan to go up twice a month! John and Sarah have built something very...
