I truly WANTED to enjoy this park so much more than I did. Yes, it was fun and a great way to see the red woods, but you can arguable drive a few more minutes to the national park and enjoy a much more peaceful time. We did spend a total of about 3 hours at the park, so about $10 per hour, per person....
Since this is a one star review, I will break down my thoughts below so other families can make informed decisions based on information that was not in others reviews:
1- This park was an expensive excursion. It seems like a good old fashion tourist trap. You pay $30 per adult to get inside. When you are in, there are no grounds employees enforcing the rules of no running, so kids are constantly bumping into you and rushing you along, causing you to feel very rushed and honestly unsafe when on the rope course. There is a very long list of rules, but not one was enforced while we were there. 2- Do not expect much from the Paul Bunyan fairy tale garden at the end of the trail. Despite the high cost to enter the park, the majority of the speaker to tell the fairy tales associated with the carvings were not working, and did not seem to have been for a very long time. I find this to be unacceptable. It is 2025 and everyone at the park has a smartphone. It would take the owners less than 4 hours to create QR codes that could be scanned so these audio clips could be heard through personal devices if they do not feel the need to fix the standing speakers with press buttons that seem to have been there for many, many years. 3- It seems that the views from the sky trail may have been amazing 20 year ago when it was first built, however, now it is mainly over grown branches with very little view of the ocean as many people mentioned. There needs to be maintenance done all of the park, but especially to these sky cars. They were so scratched and damaged inside that it was hard to enjoy the view. Maybe even a little Windex would help the situation. 4- The private collection was outstanding, however I am married to a history buff, who loves to spend an absorbate amount of time in museums reading EVERYTHING. After being in the area for about an hour, we notice the worker started following us around at every show case and was watching us at a close distance. This made us feel very uncomfortable and caused us to rush through the last two rooms of the collection that we were truly amazed to see. It seems that they should put the private collection man at the rope course because he would do a great job watching everyone closely.
With that being said, we did still manage to have a great time, despite these disappointments. However, we are the type of people who prefer more nature and less attraction, so when we go for an attraction excursion, we want our socks blown off. No socks were lost....
If you are here, be sure to go check out the tree you can drive through in Klamath. Another tourist trap,...
Read moreTrees are awesome. Gift shop experience was a hard pass after our SECOND next day visit. Never again!!! If it was busy I’d hate to be here at all but thankfully it is/was off season.
I was challenging my fears so if you’re scared of heights just stay OFF the upward walkways in the trees. Because it was not busy I had my Mom make sure no one else walked on each bridge behind me. They were Very bouncy, up down and left/right, and I was having shaky knees, fear, anxiety, etc……. I did it once and that was way more than plenty.
I would have been just as happy as if I stayed on the ground and watched those above but didn’t want my Mom to go alone. We spent well over $200 on tree tour and extra gifts in shop……Came back 2nd day to buy another couple gifts on our way home.
But on 2nd visit after buying a hot $5-7 bag of candied pecans and both of us realizing candied nuts were rancid I went and asked for my money back. We each tried TWO pecans. Younger lady with dark hair and long pony tail says very rudely, “I just made them.” I literally asked her, “Well did you taste them?” She said, “No I don’t eat sugar.” And proceeded to throw the bag in the trash with a heavy hand like she was mad I was wasting them…… If you don’t even bother to taste something that a buying customer says tastes RANCID, don’t fricking tell me what it tastes like!!!! Just because you “candy” nuts one day does not mean they are fresh. How were they stored? When were they purchased? Either way we spent plenty of $$$$$ on trees and other gifts here. To be treated like a jerk about returning stale disgusting candied nuts is literally nuts. Visiting From Oregon but I’ll never support this place just because of the lack of appreciation for customers. Many were super friendly first day but Teach your staff—-without customers they would not have a job here…….
Why would you have people work customer service positions who clearly can’t stand or do not appreciate the same people who literally are paying their wages?! So insane.
Also internet is super spotty so you may or may not be able to get in or make a purchase so call ahead. If Internet is down they still will NOT accept cash payments,...
Read moreI planned a 7 day trip to California to visit the Redwood National Forest. Before leaving, my wife looked up things to do in Crescent City California as an add on to our vacation and found the ad for Trees of Mystery. Wanting to make it a full day excursion, we decided to visit there on our 6th and final day before heading back home to Washington. It turned out to be the most memorable highlight of our vacation. If you're ever in Northern California and visiting Crescent City, more than likely to visit the Redwoods and the absolute stunning and magnificent beauty of the coast, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting the Mystery of Trees. It definitely fits the description that "You really have to be there to experience it" because words just can't do it. From the huge Paul Bunyan and his huge blue ox babe welcoming you with a big wave and verbal hello to the amazing trees, canopy bridge walk, sky tram ride and so much more, you can easily, as we did, spend an entire day there. The history itself is absolutely amazing. How it all began from the beginning and the transitions it went through over the years is nothing short of mind blowing. So much love and attention to detail went into making it one of the most enjoyable places ever to visit. Then to finish the incredible day, you can spend at least 2 hours going through their store and the worlds largest collection of private Native American Museum. If ever in the area, I'd HIGHLY recommend adding to your to do list. It was an incredibly memorable day and one of the best places I've visited in my life. Unfortunately I used my Nikon for all the photos so have none to add. But if I can edit it later after transferring the photos to my cell phone, I...
