Fun place for the family to camp or just hang out for the day. The park rangers are also informative and friendly! Watch out for poison oak... if you find some like I did... inform the rangers so that they can remove it from the area that people are around. Camp sites are a bit close together but most camping places are so that is ok. It was pretty windy when I went so bring warm clothing just incase. The bathroom at the camp site was unisex and only one toilet per bathroom so you could lock the door and not worry. Also bathroom was clean and large and had 3 or 4 rolls of toilet paper in it. I was happy that it was large enough for me and my kiddo or a wheelchair to move around in. My only concern might be the water in the lake. I have heard questionable reviews and have not gone in yet so we will see how clean it is. I plan to ask the rangers before considering getting wet. The park overall seems like a great place to be though and I can't wait to come back soon. I will review again after I camp here. Also making reservations was easy on reserve California. I would say the pictures on the website are hard to tell what the site looks like so if you have a chance swing by for a day and check them out before booking. Not all of the campsites are made equal here. Each one is different and depending on your crowd (ie kids... or several people with you....) and your needs like RV or tent camping or dry or hookup... will determine what kind of site you might need. Also one last thing, you can tent camp in the RV hookup area so if you are like me and love your water and electric hookups then this is a great option for only $5...
Read moreIf you rent a paddle boat, be prepared in case you get stuck all the way across the lake. We had an all day rental and earlier in the day was perfect. However later in the day, the wind kicked up and was impossible to get back to the rental place. We were stuck for over 2 hours with a 3 year old and pregnant woman and no one ever came around to check on their equipment. Sad part is, we weren't the only ones! Multiple other people were stuck, and no one came to help. Now, it got to the point where I had to call someone at the lake to see if someone would help us. Finally an attendant at the rental place came out on a jet ski and told us we needed to paddle out a little ways so he could tow us, then he went over to another paddle boat and automatically started helping them, and they had only been stuck for maybe 15 minutes compared to our 2 hours! And we made it perfectly clear that we had a pregnant woman and kid on the boat compared to the other boat who had 4 grown people in it! The lifeguard finally got us back to shore and as my husband went to complain the other rental attendant said he was too swamped to do his rounds. So.... making money is more important than safety and people's well-being... Wow... Don't rent anything unless it has a motor. If we didn't go through this experience, I would have put 5 stars, but this drastically...
Read moreExceeded my Expectations!!! The staff was more than accommodating. Friendly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I reserved a group campsite 'VALLE'. This place was AMAZING. It was a campsite which was said to accommodate 100 plus campers. I highly recommend it for reunions, retreats and athletic celebrations; ie hosting boy scouts football, basketball, soccer and track teams. It was a natures paradise. An avid bird watcher would have loved It had 18 benched tables, 2 sinks with running water, eleelctrical outlets, 2 three ft bbq grills and 1 very large fire pit ring. There were 4 surpringly clean restrooms and 2 coined showers. We watched movies with our projector and screen, double dutched, bean bag tossed, volleyball, horse shoes and made Smores. I honestly didn't see anyone on their phone, not even the kids. A natural habitat is an understatement, there were hiking trails, a collection of trees and host of colorful birds that all tantilized the 5 senses. The camp was SENSATIONAL as it was rural with just enough bare necessities to create a...
