Warnimont Golf Course Now w/NO rubber-necking!
Situated next to the ashes of the late Cudahy Sportsman Club Trap-Shooting Range ((RIP)) is Warnimont golf course. Sunny, open, with one water hazard, no sand traps and easy greens (but still not 'gimmes' - there ARE 'breaks'). It's a great course for beginners but also fun for more experienced players who are looking for a short, easy course to hone their 'short game.' It's a tad longer than your traditional "pitch-and-putt." A few holes are long enough that a few players may feel inclined to break out their driver, but for most golfers, your irons should suffice. Fairly priced. Decent grounds-keeping (obviously, being a county course, it's... yeah.). A course that I've personally enjoyed playing for over 20 years, Warnimont is a good course all around.
Pros:
Price Location Wildlife
Cons:
Grounds-keeping Beer prices Locals tend to walk right through your game fairly frequently

DESPITE WHAT ANY OTHER REVIEWER CLAIMS, "RUBBER-NECKING" IS NEVER AN ISSUE AT WARNIMONT GOLF COURSE!!! In fact, the golf course itself is only even VISIBLE from the archery range from 1, maybe 2 holes (17 and MAYBE 15). One would need to be actively looking AT the range itself for it to even be POSSIBLE to discern WHERE someone was even looking, let alone what they were looking AT. About 6 months or so ago (end of 2015, when the gun club building was dismantled), the direction of the archery range was altered so the firing occurs at a northern direction. Neither range has ever been any issue for me. I don't know what this bozo below me is...
Read moreYou get what you pay for. For 13 bucks you should be glad that the grass is green. All of the conditions are fair, greens roll true. Some holes have water, no bunkers on the course. The only challenges the course provides is the tree trouble and the elevation changes. The course is very walkable, you can easily carry/push your bag.
Beware of the stupid crease around the greens from the drainage. They can ruin your chips and make your round go sour. I hit my chip into one (the fringe was my landing zone) and the ball jumped back a few feet.
My only other complaint is there are SO MANY BUGS!!! My legs were a feast for the flies and mosquitoes I got 5 bug bites wearing bug spray. Make sure to wear pants and arm sleeves so you...
Read moreGreat little county practice course. This par 3 course (all par3's) had the goles ranging anywhere fom 110 to 190 yards. All straight shots and only challenges were terrain changes. Flags didn't really help with telling where in the greens they were. But the greens were in great shape and boy did they roll fast and sloped all over. Carts were ok and pro shop was just there without really a clubhouse. The rates for this course were great but you almost pay just as much to ride a cart as the green fees. The course didn't really give a view of Lake Michigan when playing. If the course plays a decent pace, then this can...
