I love this place. I stayed coming here with my son when he was an infant. It is an especially great spot for mothers with babies and toddlers.
There are places to go and things to see. I love that I can bring my son, who's three, to a pond! There's a creek and a man made waterfall too, bonus points. There are different kinds of ducks there, a few geese, turtles, fish, squirrels, and so on. You WILL see animals every time, which is a real great experience for children.
There are picnic tables scattered throughout with shade, a big plus. Half of the park is shady most of the time, especially in the first half of the day. This is great for kids too.
You can fish here during certain seasons and you can also keep some of the fish to eat. There are bass and I think possibly catfish. They stock it annually I believe. You can probably find out more on their website.
There are playground across the driveway, multiple structures, so kids love that.
Just remember to clean up, please! A lot of families come here to see the wildlife, but not the plastic cups and napkins and whatnot that collect in the pond or the...
Read morePark is nice but it's split into 2 sections and for someone in a wheelchair to cross from one side to the other, u would have to literally get in the parking to get out on the main street that splits it's and then get on it for a brief minute to cross over to the other sides parking lot structure as there is no friendly ada cross paths from one side of the park to the other.
The Japanese garden is pretty much just Japanese in name. The decorative bridges are just that, decorations. You can't access them and it's just a pond that has a walkway around it. Not much u are missing there.
The "waterfall " section, just slightly off the Japanese garden is in no way functional. Been there a few times over the years ( at different times) and never once was it on. The only reason to go that far is to sit in a bench or two that has a nice short to mid view of the north side of the park. But it's not that much...
Read moreMaaaan listen! It had been about 30 years since I visited this park. I took my daughter and our furbaby, Tink (a big ole German Sheppard Mix cutie patootie). Anyway, I digress. The park is nice even though some trails appear to be closed. There are still plenty of other trails to walk. The babbling brook is my favorite. We found a cool spot next to it in the shade social distanced from everyone- and it was a Sat. Got a little congested at times by the lake, but always in passing. Dogs must be on leash though I saw at least two very well behaved, friendly dogs off the leash and in very close proximity to their owners. We took some amazing shots of the lake and the dragonflies make it feel whimsical. Bathroom was clean. Very nice park. I can't...
