Nice park by Lake Lanier. Picnic tables by the lake, a boat ramp, small boat dock. There's multi-use hiking and mountain bike trail as well. The start of the trail is right at the entrance of the park by the Charleston Park sign. There's lots of parking and I've been here many times and have never seen it full. There's a lower parking lot down on the left where a lot of mountain bikers park and from there you'll find a short wooded connector that'll take you up to the trail head at the park entrance I mentioned. From all the other parking areas it's a short walk up to the trail head. If I'm hiking I usually park at the restrooms near the front of the parks so it's very close to the the trail. If you look you'll actually see a cut through to the trail right at the fork where the road turns to the boat ramps and the restroom parking, it'll only save about 50 ft or so from the trail head. So when you go down the trail the first part is a two way so look out for bikers or walkers if you're the biker. As you go down you'll cross over a little wooded bridge and that is where the inner tail loop starts. Pay attention to the direction according to if you are a walker or biker based on the day of the week. They change it up like most shared trails to help lesson the impact of the bikes and bikers go in opposite direction to hikers. After a short hike you'll see signs for the outer loop, if you're hiking keep in mind if you choose to take the outer loop is pretty long. There are numbered trail markers on trees every so often so you can know if you still going in the right path and direction and it continues as a loop all the way around the trail. The numbers go up if you're going counter clockwise and down vise versa. There are no restrooms or porta potties or trash cans on the trail. There are picnic tables in a few locations. Also there are a few spots with views of the lake but no trail access down...

Read moreI love this park! It is well-maintained and dog friendly. Having the lake close by makes for beautiful scenery. It does have some inclines, but is not a difficult trail if you have no health issues. Wear comfy, closed toe shoes! I also like the option of a shorter, inner loop vs a longer, outer loop, depending on your mood that day. Since the trail is shared by hikers and bikers, please check the signs to make sure you are going the right direction for safety. Signs clearly show which direction to go...
