One of the best parks in Cleveland! I would describe it as very balanced: lots of nature, industrial areas, open paths, and shaded areas. I think it transitions between all of the elements super well. I was just there last evening and some areas were flooded so just be aware of the effects from all of the rain. One man tried to cross the flooded area with his bike and nearly fell over... he would've been carried down into a waterfall and into a big pond (past the gray/green interceptor pipe - I think it's sewage??) Sometimes you shouldn't be overly confident. Nature doesn't care...
Read moreIf you want to walk or run on a paved trail this is a nice pick. If you park at Canal Way Center (stop in if it's open) this is a great selection. A small hill up or down leads to the paved trail that runs parallel to the Ohio & Erie Canal. Heading right just over the bridge will take you to some views of the Cuyahoga River and some of the local industry both old and out of use and new and in use. There is a great bridge out about 1.3 miles where you can often spot a Blue Heron, fish, deer and frogs when the spring arrives. There are a few side paths to find...
Read moreO&ECR hosts some of the first official mountain bike trails in Cuyahoga county. What is now known as the "Primitive Loop" is ~2 miles of natural surface trail for intermediate riding. This trail includes chunky rocks and exposed roots, giving even advanced riders something to enjoy. This loop also drains very well, so it's a popular visit when all of the other trails are closed.
