I was really glad this trail was here when my brother and I moved into our fathers cabin for a summer. We did it almost every day sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. It would be nice if the section between the end and the parking lot was not as much of a street walk. It has a few harder inclines that are good for getting the heart going as well as short rest areas to take a break and enjoy a packed lunch at. The first date I had with my wife was on the grassy knoll near the dam. Candles, wine some snakes and a Bluetooth speaker are all ya need :)

Nice place to picnic and take in a pretty view. If you weren't prepared, do what we did...stop for takeout at a local restaurant or grocery store and then grab one of many picnic tables. Clean area. Lots of trash cans and decent public restrooms. Take a walk with your pet, fish, put in a boat or paddle. Life jackets are available if you didn't bring any. It's a small lake, but always have a floatation device in any Georgia lake. 🙂

Beautiful park, decent length trail. I walked for 30 mins and could tell I wasn’t even halfway done with the loop. The elevation shift is minimal at first, but about 20 mins in there’s a fairly large hill that got me winded. The trails are a mixture of packed dirt or gravel dirt. Saw many people walking their dogs. However, be advised the trails are relatively narrow, and at certain places only wide enough for 1-2 people to pass

Really pretty lake. No gasoline engines allowed so its great for kayaking. Unfortunately, the lake is fished out. There may be fish in there but I've never caught any and only seen one huge grass carp. The walking trail is really nice. Its a good workout if you're in medium physical condition like most of us. If you're fit, it'll be a breeze but it's a pretty walk. NO BATHROOMS. One porta potty but its about as nasty as you'd imagine. AND it's on the opposite side from...

If you start on dam side, first mile and 1/2 is relatively easy-ish, but 2nd half of the trail is super terrainy. Stopped maybe 2 or 3 times, not for very long, took us almost 2 hours to hike. DID NOT CARE FOR THE VERY END, TRAIL IS RIGHT NEXT TO ROAD, and have to be careful of some holes in grass that you can't see. Almost twisted ankle. Beautiful and challenging, not entirely safe if you have littles hiking with you, having to finish it...
