This was a strenuous but unforgettable hike, clocking in just over 17 miles. As I approached the summit of Springer Mountain, night had already fallen—so the entire journey back was lit only by my headlamp. It was completely epic. The solitude at the top, paired with the panoramic views, made the climb worth every step.
I tackled this route as part of my prep for my October 2023 ascent of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. Make sure to bring plenty of water and don’t skimp on your footwear—my worn-out boots gave me grief. Camping is abundant along the trail, and next time I’ll plan to overnight at the summit.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to push themselves physically...

I would strongly suggest coming from the intersection at the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church off Doublehead Gap Rd. The other side off Hwy 52 and Nimblewill Church Rd is much more for Off Road vehicles. Actual hike is pleasant. Nice view of mountains through trees along hike. Could be obscured during summer with leaves. View at...
Read moreJust went to Tag'z in Murfreesboro, TN. IDK where the chicken is butchered, but here I see breasts cut crosswise, not laterally at the breast bone. Thin cartilage is holding the sides together for the appearance of a larger cut. This is inferior quality bc what is shown online is a standard split breast, but these are slashed, with a straight edge. If you're from M'boro, they're charging 8.49/leather Tag'z, which is double the price at Publix, a mile or 2 down the street. Publix works hard selling pure chicken, nothing adulterated, with uniformity as much as possible during these...
