I love this hiking trail due to how close it is to me! It's a hidden gem here in Pleasant Grove. The only reason it I give it 4/5 is because for new people, it can be tricky to find, the entrance needs maintenance, and there's sound pollution (for those who care about being in touch with nature - there's passing car noises and it's next to the DART rail.) Otherwise, I love the change in minor elevation/hills that helps you feel like your at Cedar Ridge Preserve.
This trail has been expanded with an additional loop this year (2022), so it definitely helps prolong what once was a 30-40 min hike for me.
Nevertheless, I enjoy this trail, and so does my German Shephard!

You go through a lot of wooded area-- lots of honeysuckle, smells amazing-- and a clearing with prairie wildflowers. There are tons of butterflies and dragonflies around. It's short enough to bring your kiddos, my five year old loved it. Feels like a little oasis. Park at Gateway Park and cross the street, or park at Keeton Park and head over to the big field. You'll see the trailhead marker at...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a great time on this trail! I can't attest to how long it is because you don't get far with a toddler, but it is so wooded and shady that it was bearable even in 90 degree heat. I did not find it to be overgrown like some have said. The trailhead is across a field to your left when you turn into the golf course. We parked by the golf course and passed a little creek on the way to the trail, where we saw geese, a diving duck, and even a white crane or egret on the way...
