We used to go to this stretch of beach with our dogs more often in the past, but unfortunately, the dog walkers have discovered it. It's now turning into Fort Funston, so if you prefer to not expose your dogs to so many off leashed and uncontrolled dogs.... don't go during times when it becomes too busy. Early in the morning before 9am is best. Regardless, it's a large open area which includes wonderful trails, big flat bluffs, and long stretches of beach. Perfect for running your dogs and of course, the views are gorgeous. Watch for the horses though as they can get spooked by dogs, so we leash up when we see them coming by. This area is also a great place to surf fish. I used to fly fish for perch and strippers once upon a time. There's pocket water which creates feeding channels and once you find them, the strikes are non stop and fun.

Parking is limited about the size of a cul-de-sac. They do have trash cans and recycling bin they do have a few small benches for sitting follow the sidewalk to the end towards the big tree and prepare yourself for a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean on top of the cliffs they have many different trails to choose from that can lead you to the beach or walk along the cliffs. I've seen maybe to homeless people that probably live there and the trees and in the bushes no big deal they won't bother you but do not leave any valuables in your car the other day when I was there I've seen two parking spots with shattered glass on the floor which tells me that they have been broken into also if you're walking on the dirt trails be aware and on the lookout for horse poop.

I loved this trail so much ! I even plan on going back because the trail is so long I wasnt able to walk all of it. I went at the end of May and it was extremely windy so that was a struggle because being on the trail, the wind was so aggressive that the sand was blowing up and hitting my face. So it would have been better if it wasnt so windy. Overall I enjoyed it so much. Beautiful views and the entire landscape looked like small succulents. I did not go down to the water but it looked very open and not busy at all. I dont know if it would be safe to swim in the water because I saw a Narwal that was washed up on the shore.
