Very small parking lot off the entrance from John Daly Blvd. So, if you don't go early or aren't lucky, you may not find a legal parking spot.
But, once parked, there was a nice trail winding its way to the beach. Or, if you are a bit more adventurous, there is a moderately challenging shorter route down to the beach. It was fun for us and our kids, age 8 and 6, trekking down. However, you may need to think twice about this steeper route if you have small kids, more elderly, or less physically capable persons in your party.
It was nice to walk along the beach, breathe fresh sea air and watch beach goers with their dogs splashing in the waves or chasing thrown objects. Very peaceful and relaxing. Great morning stroll to start the lazy Sunday.

Read moreWe used to go to this stretch of beach with our dogs more often in the past, but unfortunately, the dog walkers have discovered it. It's now turning into Fort Funston, so if you prefer to not expose your dogs to so many off leashed and uncontrolled dogs.... don't go during times when it becomes too busy. Early in the morning before 9am is best.
Regardless, it's a large open area which includes wonderful trails, big flat bluffs, and long stretches of beach. Perfect for running your dogs and of course, the views are gorgeous. Watch for the horses though as they can get spooked by dogs, so we leash up when we see them coming by.

They do have trash cans and recycling bin they do have a few small benches for sitting follow the sidewalk to the end towards the big tree and prepare yourself for a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean on top of the cliffs they have many different trails to choose from that can lead you to the beach or walk along the cliffs. I've seen maybe to homeless people that probably live there and the trees and in the bushes no big deal they won't bother you but do not leave any valuables in your car the other day when I was there I've seen two parking spots with shattered glass on the floor which tells me that they have been broken into also if you're walking on the dirt trails be aware and on the lookout...
