We stopped in to eat, after dropping my hubby's semi off. On first impression, which is the most important, the odor of perfume was so strong, but not pleasant. Everything was clean, and spacious walking through to the sports bar, which was the only choice.
There was a young man in a little booth, who directed us where to stand to wait for the host. The host was nowhere in sight, and took several minutes to come out from the kitchen area. She never greeted us, or acknowledged us before grabbing one menu, one set of silverware, one small menu and walking briskly away. We werent sure if we were supposed to even follow her. Once we caught up to her, she still had not said anything. I absolutely did let her know its customary to say hi, and acknowledge people. Her response was a drawn out "ok," and then she left to go get more silverware and another menu.
We then sat for a lengthy time before our server, who seemed to have the majority of tables, was able to come take our drink order. The lighting in the center under the round screens is terrible for reading a menu.
Our server was polite, and accomodating. Her lotion, which was pleasant and light smelling, could be tasted on the cup.
My husband ordered the meatloaf meal, and I ordered the ribeye medium rare. We also added house salads and the onion ring appetizer.
The onion rings were visually appealing, and tasted lovely, but couldve been warmer. There were enough for about five people.
The salads were pretty, crispy, and also large
The meatloaf was well plated. My husband said it was not his favorite, but not bad, and was full by halfway through.
The ribeye was picturesque with the grill marks, but was over cooked, nearly well done. I did not want gravy on my mashed potatoes but there was so much, I feel like it was poured onto the plate before the food, then again on top of the mashed potatoes. There was too much butter on the steak, and plate. The steak was tough, and the meat was grey. I only had one bite, which was half grissled fat, and half meat.
Our server comped us $15, and offered to have my steak redone, but we had waited a long time for our food, two tables sat after us receiving their mains before us, that I didnt want to wait. We boxed our leftovers, except for the steak.
We were debating upon arrival, getting a room for the night, but after the dinner, opted to to go ahead and drive through the night, especially after the masked lady in front of the slot machine area in the booth gave us a hard stare on our way out. It was very uncomfortable.
Being a Texan, politeness and friendliness are built in to our genes. I did not feel this in Iowa. Sad.
That was my 2nd time in Iowa, having driven through once before. I wont be back.
*Update: to the owner that replied, you left no contact person to talk to. The operator transferred me to food and beverage, and I was hung up on after 3 rings. Im not interested in coming back. Please just have a meeting with your team to make...
Read moreI went to this casino for a nice date night out with my boyfriend. We were in a suite, paid appropriately $600 for the night. The suite had a jacuzzi, which apparently was leaking. At approximately 2AM in the morning we were woken up to a man standing at the foot of our bed. He was a security staff member. He did not knock prior to entering our room. He did not call. He said he was in the room because he had gotten a complaint that the jacuzzi was leaking from the individual who was renting the room underneath us. He came in the bedroom to look at the water. He said it looked like there was a lot of water. My boyfriend was extremely unhappy with the fact that this gentleman did not call or knock prior to entering the room. Ultimately, we wound up being forced to leave the hotel. It was incredibly embarrassing being humiliated and having to pack up my things while being watched. The security staff did mention that the reason he came in was due to safety concerns, he said he was afraid someone had committed suicide because of the water issue. My concern was mainly with the lack of privacy and care. Appropriate measures were not taken to try and contact us prior to having someone enter our room. I left and had to pay another $200 to get a room at a different hotel. I was tired and it was an extremely stressful and humiliating experience. Prior to leaving, we picked up the hotel room phone and it appeared to be dead, no dial tone, etc. I would expect better treatment and service. I will caveat this by saying my boyfriend was very angry at waking up to a man standing at the foot of our bed. He was too aggressive and hostile with his words, however, I was not. I will never again go to this hotel. I would never recommend it, however, if you do decide to go, make sure to use the door lock privacy latch to prevent a similar situation happening to you. Also, I will note, the service and staff at the restaurant were phenomenal. The only issue was with the lack of privacy, the lack of due diligence in terms of attempting to communicate with us prior to entering our room. I do believe security just made a mistake by entering without notifying us first, and we all make mistakes sometimes….however the experience was humiliating for me and as such, I can’t recommend this...
Read moreI would like to start out by saying that Amanda was extremely helpful in a odd situation. I booked a King Ada room on 8-14 for the night of 8-19. I went through the whole process, entered special requests because it’s my fiancés birthday weekend (8-22) and my belated birthday (8-6) which we decided to celebrate by buying tickets for the show and I was surprising my fiancé with a room using my cash back rewards through my credit card. Everything appeared to go smoothly until I checked my email on 8-18 to make sure everything was in order for this weekend when I discovered I didn’t have a confirmation email from the RCC. So I called and the hotel couldn’t find my reservation. Cue panic because the hotel was sold out!!! Talk about extreme stress because the hotel was the surprise part of my present to my fiancé! I was transferred to Amanda which went above and beyond checking the sister properties in case a error was made. My reservation could not be located at any of the properties. More panic! Amanda thankfully said she’d call me today (8-19) if she was able to locate a cancelation. I received a call promptly at 9:44am stating she had a cancellation pop up for a double Queen. Unfortunately it wasn’t a Ada but beggars can’t be choosers in a tight spot that she shouldn’t have been put in. So far, as we haven’t been to the property yet, I’m not sure I’ll be able to use my CC reward points that I originally booked it with so that will drastically reduce our play money that I budgeted for this mini vacation. So far I’m very happy with how much effort was spent trying to find us a cancelation very short notice but the fact it happened to begin with, the added stress and now, most likely almost $300 less out of our original budget has me a discouraged. We shall see how the rest of the stay goes with everything that has transpired up to this point. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from staying at this property. Hopefully everything works out and we’ll be back to enjoy another stay. Word to the wise….Make sure you check for a conformation email immediately after booking or you may be in the same boat or stuck with no room for the night. *I will update my review...
