After seeing reviews showing people in the water... DO NOT GET IN THIS WATER! IT IS ABSOLUTELY TOXIC! The signs along the road leading up to this even explain how polluted the river is. Please don't expose yourself to the risk of dangerous levels of mercury, lead, arsenic, etc.

The waterfalls are beautiful here, but those noting the color of the water should be aware that it is the result of acid mine drainage and is very toxic. Just up the road there is a large informative sign at the entrance to one of the old mines explaining that there used to be an effective filtration system to collect the pollution, but that it stopped functioning decades ago.

Again... Do NOT swim...

Albert Falls is right next to the road on the way to Douglas Falls. There is a small pull off spot and there is not a great way to get all the way down to the water, but the falls are beautiful and definitely worth the stop if you're already headed to Douglas Falls. We were there after a freak 14 inch snow storm in May so the water was moving very quickly. Road is gravel and has some large potholes/rocks. You can also park at the Douglas Falls pull off and walk back to...

Falls were beautiful, I would say worth the trip if your in Thomas...The gravel road to get there has lots of huge pot holes so drive slow and easy. I have a Kia Soul and made it fine but i wouldn't risk it on a rainy day. There is a very steep climb down to the falls, not far but you have to use the rope attached to a tree to get there and back. You can see Albert Falls from the road so you dont have to do the climb. Unsure if there was a different path,...

Did you know West Virginia had so many waterfalls!? WV is an outdoor lovers paradise, and summer is one of my favorite times to visit. The lush greenery will have you feeling like youโ€™re in a jungle far far away, and chasing waterfalls is a great way to stay cool! I canโ€™t think of a better way to spend a summer weekend. Please help keep WV beautiful by cleaning up after yourself when you visit! Donโ€™t leave anything behind so others can enjoy the natural beauty. Stay on established trails and use caution around waterfalls. This waterfall is insanely gorgeous and makes you feel like youโ€™re in a tropical place. The water is a beautiful greenish blue. Road there is gravel and there are lots of holes so be careful driving down it. The waterfall itself is right of the side of the road. There is a little pull of area with enough room for one car, or you can drive down further to a parking area for Douglas Falls. They are so close to each other I definitely recommend seeing both while youโ€™re there.
