🌲 A Peaceful and Family-Friendly Adventure at George W. Childs Park 🌊

We had such a wonderful time visiting George W. Childs Park! It was a perfect spot for a day trip with the kids. The nature trails are well-marked and not too difficult, which made it great for children to explore safely. Along the way, we enjoyed beautiful views of waterfalls, little wooden bridges, and lots of shady spots to rest or have a snack.

The sound of rushing water and the fresh air made the whole experience relaxing. The kids especially loved watching the water cascade over the rocksβ€”it felt like a little magical forest! πŸ§šβ€β™€οΈπŸŒΏ

There were plenty of places to take photos and capture memories. It’s not only a fun outing, but also a chance to teach children about nature and enjoy quality time together away from screens and busy routines.

We highly recommend George W. Childs Park to families looking for an easy, beautiful hike with natural beauty and lots of space to enjoy the outdoors. Just remember to bring water, comfy shoes, and maybe a light lunch for a picnic!

We’ll definitely be...

So I havent been here in over 5 years while the park was cleaned up after the devastating storm that ripped through several years ago. A part of me felt like my heart had been storm battered at the loss of this beautiful outdoor space during all these years of restoration. As I hiked through this morning, it was incredible to see the devastation left behind. I cant even imagine what it looked like before clean up efforts! The work is beautiful and so deeply appreciated. My spirit gladdens that this precious outdoor space is returned to those who love to visit and appreciate it. πŸ₯° The parking lot is still closed for the winter season but the trails were accessible and the falls running beautifully in the spring thaw. Evidence of restoration is everywhere along the path. The work is amazing and was worth waiting for. Tread lightly as the beauty of Child's park is able to once again mesmerize outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Thank you to all who made the...

This has turned into a Zoo controlled Federal Gov't project. They have 4 park ranger paid for by our tax dollars that's funded by the federal government... they no longer let you walk off the trails or get in the water. I was actually yelled at for looking at the falls... (ok that's a joke), but they stated that "400 people NYC" came and used the park as their own personal water park and let it trashed. I do understand when a bunch of irresponsible people destroy an area something needs to be done. Putting a life guard and / or fining people for stupid actions. But to restrict everything that the park is known for is another example of our money being used to control our lives. If you are driving here to swim or picnic don't because it's not possible anymore.... they do have a couple picnic areas but I'm sure they will eventually stop you from doing...

Take a short 1.4 mi loop to see some incredible waterfalls at George W. Childs Park in the Delaware Water Gap of Pennsylvania. ***Dogs are not permitted in the park. Swimming and wading not permitted. Please stay on the trail at all times. Philanthropist George W. Childs purchased this land in 1892 and developed this park for everyone, not just the wealthy, to be able to experience the outdoors. Follow Dingmans Creek to see three waterfalls: Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, and Deer Leap Falls. You can also see the remains of an old woolen mill and a CCC built pavilion. The trail is accessible to the first waterfall viewing platform. The rest requires stairs. There are many short waterfall hikes in the area, so you can see a lot in one day. Dingmans Falls trail is currently closed for construction. Always be sure to Leave No Trace while exploring the outdoors. #delawarewatergap #poconos #dingmansferrypa

Pocono Television Network got a sneak peek of the complex and sensitive restoration process happening at George W. Childs Park in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. In 2018, a winter storm closed the park after suffering significant damages to trails, bridges, and buildings. The National Park Service said they expect work to completed soon with Childs Park reopening in 2024. No exact date is set but we are excited for the return of this gem to the Pocono Mountains. #PoconoMtns #ChildsPark #DelawareWaterGap #NationalParkService #WaterfallHikes #ThingsToDoInPennsylvania
