I’ve lived in Delaware my whole life, and it’s rapidly growing, as things keep being added to the city. But this is arguably one of the best additions to the town!! Honestly I think city officials should make more free, family friendly, places like this one.
The park is spacious, beautiful, and appropriate for multiple ages! The splash pad specifically is perfect for kids 12mo-6y/o who might be a little too young to enjoy a pool fully.
My one complaint is how busy it can get in the summer. And the only time it gets uncomfortably crowded is when day camps from other cities come. Like buses full of older kids (7y/o+) coming at once. I understand the appeal to bringing the kids on a day trip there, but good god it’s a lot. It’s like 30 kids with 3-4 adults supervising them and it’s super chaotic.
Im not suggesting this should stop but I’m warning others haha. When you show up for the splash pad do a quick look over for any small buses parked there, and I highly recommend coming back later after they’ve left. It makes the splash pad hard to enjoy especially if you’re bringing kiddos 6 and under. Just because it’s usually older kids from these day camps. They deserve to enjoy the splash pad too! But 7y/o-12y/o can be kind forgetful of younger kids around...
Read moreMy kids loved it there! With the options to play in the water or to walk over and play on the playground. Definitely recommended for kids. ideally ages 2-10. Tons of activities to do here which include some sand excavations for kids to uncover some fossils (part of the stone sand setup, no real fossils). also includes an upright electronic light game disc that is roughly 3 foot in radios. Plenty of jungle gyms, swings, bridges, and play sets to play on. Spacious parking lot that includes handicap parking. Very clean bathrooms on site, with handicap stalls to use or change in if you choose to have fun in the water. Plenty of benches to sit or lounging chairs by the water activities. Also on site it offers a food stand for a quick bite with various drinks as well. Overall I give it a 5/5 as I personally had fun with my kids and enjoyed the many hours spent there on several...
Read moreThis is our #1 favorite playground to go to and it takes us 45 minutes to get there.
We went once last year during summer when the splash pad was open. My son had an absolute blast on the playground and then cooling off on the splash pad that visit.
This second visit the splash pad hasn't quite opened up yet of course, but he had an absolute blast again at the playground.
Friendly parents and kids. Quite a lot of shaded areas and picnic tables. The whole area is always very clean and the restrooms are the best around.
The playground has a cool layout with many fun "artsy" elements.
Let's not forget that legendary dinosaur slide. It does not disappoint.
There is plenty of parking that is close by the playground.
We will keep...
