I've been going here for about 3 years now to get crickets for my frogs because a lot of the surrounding pet stores don't cut it there and this place they're usually super happy and healthy. They appear to be gut loaded. This afternoon was not the case. I sent the wife down to get four dozen for me. They ended up taking six punches off of my card. Didn't dust my crickets and gave me about 8 to 10 dozen with about four dozen dead in the back. Which if you know anything about keeping animals dead crickets are a big bacterial and fungal hazard and I don't know how long they were dead. I live live at the top of glenway and rapid run and coming down the female teenage employee working was pretty rude about it and insisted that I was lying. I told them to pull cameras and instead she went in the back and got the teenage boy to come out and speak with me. He ended up replacing my cricket card and commented himself about there being way more crickets in there and all the dead ones. Once again was asked how far away I live and I told them. They exchanged the crickets and they gave me a new card minus the punches they took out today. But the whole experience is honestly rubbed me really wrong. The older gentleman that works is a sweetheart and as nice as can be, but I'm not a fan of the teenage employees. I know it's a religious shop but they just stare at me like a criminal anytime I come and I know it's because I'm heavily tattooed. I've bit my tongue on how they look at me over my appearance for a while because frankly I'm used to it, but this cricket situation has me looking for a new pet store. I doubt once my current cricket card is used up that I will return. All of their frog enclosures are also in terrible condition and the "bioactive" enclosures they sell for them are a joke. Buy one if you want your frogs to get red leg or any other bacterial infections bc the enclosures are not cycled or truly bioactive. They just stick moistened coco coir in the tank and have no cleanup crew. I'm not as knowledgeable on birds but my cousin is and she refuses to shop there bc they keep the big birds cage right next to the door year round where he is subjected to the constant draft of people coming in and out. I'm surprised it hasn't died of a respiratory infection
Still have not been contacted what a joke. Good thing I found somewhere else to get food for my animals because I won't be back
6/4/2024 update
Still haven't been contacted by anyone. After feeding my tree frogs the replacement crickets (from the same bin smh) they developed a serious bacterial/fungal infection thankfully I've been able to treat that. Get food from here if you want your animals to get...
Read moreI have been dealing with Delhi Pet Center for over 20 years. They offer a family-oriented service that is rarely seen these days. The staff gets to know you by name, they know your pets and their issues and they offer great help and advice. They are always well stocked and eager to help you choose new items. Having someone knowledgeable about you and your pet is so helpful and their advice and suggestions come from a true desire to make you and your pet happy. Many many years ago my daughter and I found an abandoned teacup poodle. She was flea infested and missing many teeth. We wanted to rid her of the fleas and feed her, but we were afraid she would contaminate our home and our pets. We went directly to Delhi Pet Center when they were on Delhi Road and the owner helped us choose necessary items to clean her up and feed her. He also lent us FOR FREE a small kennel for her use until we could decide what to do with her. This family-owned business rocks. They are definitely in it for reasons other than making a living. I am all for supporting the independent merchants...there is nothing like shopping where everyone...
Read moreI was pretty ticked off at the owner Gregg for a few days because I really wanted this puppy and right after I just told him I wanted to get this puppy, he promised another lady who came in after me, that he would save the puppy for her, I thought it was rude because I had been a loyal customer for years. I saw the owner in the butcher shop next door and he said he promised her the dog because he knew her dad and she had bought 3 dogs from him already. I asked him if he would take my number and call me first if the lady ended up not getting the puppy so i could get the puppy. He did call me 2 days later and allowed me to buy the puppy. She is so sweet and lovable. I feel bad about the harsh review i gave Delhi Pet Center since I ended up getting the puppy after all. although, I still feel that the owner was a little rude to dismiss me, and my business in such a rude manner in the first...
