Easily my favorite place for an escape to nature on this side of South Jersey. While not a massive park, you’ll find that you can easily spend hours there walking all of the trails. You’ll pass the confluence of the Delaware River and Rancocas Creek, beaches, several scenic overlooks (including one that highlights Philadelphia), wooded areas, and more.
The wildlife is also fantastic, especially birds. I’ve seen many lovable species here (Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, tons of warblers, a variety of woodpeckers, and so much more). Other wildlife present are deer, turtles, snakes, and I even saw a beaver one winter.
The park is well kept with typically no trash on the trails, but you can see some in the plants and some washes up from the river. If you’re not looking, you won’t even notice, but if you want to look, you can spend a good amount of time cleaning up the park. Every bit helps.
Lastly, the crowds aren’t too bad. With quarantine, it gets fairly busy on a nice day, but you’re not constantly running into people on an average day.
All in all, you should certainly go spend an...

Today my friend Bernie and I took a walk through Amico Island Park for the first time. There are very nice wide trails that run almost 2 miles around the park. The trails are marked with different colors depending on which trail you choose. They are very wide and completely cleared. I was told that a bulldozer was used when they made the trails years ago. I saw joggers on the trails, children and their parents and some friends I know from the Dredge Harbor Cafe. It was very enjoyable and I expect to go back there many more times just to walk and enjoy the Delaware and Rancocas Creek views. Bernie and I keep our boats at Clarks Landing Marina in Delran and we always see the park from the river side while we are out boating. Today we saw the other side from the land. A great place to enjoy nature and also to see the deer that run wild there and are protected from hunters.

Read moreI just discovered this place after several years in the area and I love it. Ther are about 2.5 miles of hiking trails, but it is very pretty with a very diverse ecology for such a relatively small area. There is a beautiful sandy shoreline along the Deleware river that is fantastic for a picnic, but check the tides as the beach disappears during high tide. I HIGHLY recommend Amico Island over the Palmyra Cove just down river as the river banks at Amico are quite clean versus the heaps of trash at Palmyra Cove. It is such a pleasure to have a natural park like Amico so close to Philly...even through you can see the city skyline from the banks, you feel like you're in the middle of the woods. I also see lots of...
