Mayflower Beach — Attraction in Dennis

I grew up going to mayflower beach and at thirty years old we are still going with all our families! It has the best low tide beach that is perfect to sprawl out, play beach games and build amazing sand castles. Small little ponds form that are great for the little ones to swim and play in with adults right by. Many times there are minnows and or hermit crabs for the kids to play with in the ponds. My only piece of advice, get there really early like before 9 or after 4 because the parking lot fills up fast and there is only a 10 car wait limit so many Summers my dad drove around and around to even just be able to wait in the line and then you sit there waiting in that line to get in. Absolutely the best beach I've ever found in all of New England!! If you think I'm exaggerating, go see! The warmest, most gentle, clear water that goes on forever. It's like the carribean if you can never get out there. Beautiful and plenty of room for everyone. When it's low tide, there's so much to explore. You could walk forever and it won't go past your waist for some time. So you feel safer in the ocean since everything is clear down to your toes and you could spot a big fish, etc a mile away. Great sand and sand bars to walk around. There's amazing frozen 🍋 here as well. Parking can get crazy so come early. There's a fee as usual. But so worth it. No other beach can compare. Beautiful bayside beach in Dennis, with a large parking lot. I’ve only come during the off-season, mostly because of how packed this beach gets during the summer months.

I did do a lot of trash pickup during my walk, if you’re visiting please make sure not to litter - it can be unintentionally mistaken as food by wildlife or create them to become entangled. And PLEASE don’t bring balloons to be released here or anywhere for that matter, balloon releases kill wildlife - it’s cruel to do to the environment, and shouldn’t be taught to younger generations. I must have found 20 ballon strings and only the remanence of 4 pieces of balloon fragments during my hour walk/cleanup. It’s unfortunate, and unnecessary. No one likes...
