A great spot for a peaceful walk or for some quiet contemplation time. In the spring or early summer be sure to walk thru the beautiful flowered area small but charming that includes a sundial, colorful trees and butterflies. Along the side of the museum you can access a walking pathway that has been mown thru the very tall grass field. Walk, breathe deep and recenter yourself. It’s a proven fact that just 510 minutes spent in an outdoor area like this can ease your mind & help clear any tension you may be feeling. Try it but leave the phone, Facebook and the music in your pocket or, better yet, in the car while you walk. Usually not very busy and I have never encountered a crowd while walking here. These areas seem to me, unfortunately, to not be ideal for wheelchair users. Dont forget to take a tour thru the Homestead Museum before your walk. Large parking lot. No outdoor facilities. Read moreI've been practically driving by this house for 15 years and never knew it. It's a gorgeous interior with a lot of attention to detail. Sprawling with additions, and a surprisingly interesting history of the owner, a woman who was the top dairy cow breeder and producer in the state. Entry is free. I visited during Christmas and the decor was fantastic but will be going back when they are open again on spring to see the house in its traditional state. Docent was present but visitors are welcome to tour themselves.
