Not a happy PREGNANT momma this year. We've been coming here for the pumpkin festival for 3 years now, this year being our third. Usually we come on the Monday during the first week of the festivals opening. Always noticed that there was no food or shade and not many places to sit, but since our son was small, we didn't mind it because we didn't stay that long anyways. This year, since he is 3 and old enough to do more activities, we decided to come opening weekend and got to see the whole farm open. There was still not many places to sit and no shade to get out of the sun but there was food because it was a weekend.
We were excited to pick pumpkins out of a patch something we didn't notice if we were able to do in the past but was severely disappointed when we saw the field was completely empty third day of opening and everything was gone. We were happy there was food this time but was a lot of fried food settled for some chicken tenders with nasty BBQ sauce and a dole whip later on. Got to ride the hay ride this year since they don't run on the weekdays and this time we were there on a weekend it was okay from what I was told by my husband but they didn't take you around whole farm. Noticed they had a few hay rides going at once and something with cars attached thought that was a good idea but didn't understand why someone in a utv kept driving back and fourth in the dirt making a big puff of dirt in the air every 5 min near us didn't appreciate that. Also, there was only one bench to sit and wait for the hay ride to get back. Luckily, I was able to sit. Noticed this yr there was alot of portojohns that was nice but there was no place to wash our hands and I alone probably used the bathroom 20x also didn't love having to walk so far to get to them was hell on my bladder. Noticed the feeder coin machines kept taking money and not giving out food something that should be tested and fixed prior to opening or taped up to prevent people from using it. If I hadn't been persistent in finding a small pumpkin in the few pumpkins they had sitting around the 2 side entrances, I wouldn't have walked inside this big white tent and found a loose corn pit. Thought it was cool and super small, but by then, we were tuckered out wanting food and to leave.
Honestly, I would have said we had a great time, but since leaving and a few days passed, we all 4 of us got sick with COVID! This was the only place we went in Prescott/Dewey and I'm pretty sure we got it because of the bathrooms! It has now been 4 weeks, and 3 of us are still suffering. We even had to go to urgent care a few times, dr a few times, and a hospital visit. So at this point I'm not exactly sure if it's worth for us to make the drive from East Mesa to Dewey next year when I'll have a 6 month old risk her health and keep up what we were trying to make an annual family tradition.
It seemed like they were trying to expand this year, but more planning needs to happen for that to be...
Read moreA FABULOUS place for all to enjoy!! My first time here since moving to Prescott Valley and oh wow, I was not disappointed!! Fall is my favorite time of year and so my very first impression pulling into the parking lot was how pretty all of the fall “decorations” were displayed. Loads of every size, color and shape of pumpkins, bales of hay, mums and pansies along w corn stalks adorned the entrance making one feel welcome right off. We entered through the General Store to purchase tickets to the corn maze and seemingly walked into a store from yesteryear - what a charming but functional space. Everything from fresh vegetables, canned goods, baked goods, fresh meats, drinks and so, so much more are displayed making it very difficult to decide what to purchase as I had to be firm w myself to not over buy. Walking out the side door of the store took me into a world of beauty, felt like being on a farm. Row after row of fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers growing to be picked and purchased by visitors - much of the crops have been depleted by this time as growing season for many items has come to pass. I will definitely make a point to come back when I’ll be able to hand pick my own veggies to take home. Next I was greeted by a sweet goat as I made my way down the path toward the corn maze - what fun it was to pet this guy as he simply stood there enjoying his ears being scratched. Crossing over the bridge I saw chickens and a geese, small horses and many more goats. Just after the animals is a huge area for play. Tire swings, a bounce pillow for kids and much much more of which I did not visit nor did I frequent food trucks as I was focused on getting to the maze. Walking through the corn maze was a lot of fun and since I was there on a weekday evening, there were not many people visiting and that was very nice. I’ll return to this farm often to partake in the events hosted here as I read there...
Read moreBeen going to Mortimer Farms for years! And watched it slowly become less of family farm and more of a corporation event!I used to love going to Mortimer farms, and all although the scenery has improved, the facility and the way it's been managed has not!! For being a family farm you should be ashamed! It is not affordable for families to attend! And then the rates in which you charge for products are astronomical! Saw them literally pulling pumpkins out of bins that look like they were bought from somewhere else to be dropped in the field because of the inadequate amount of pumpkins that were grown. There is hardly any shade cover, this is the second year now that we've gone and the pony rides weren't there. Last year the pony ride guy just didn't want to get up that day! The people at the front are rude, I find it funny that you can't bring in outside drink because you want to charge people ridiculous amounts for water or ! Its water in Arizona! And it seems like every review is met with the owner's response of it seems to be their fault that they picked that day to go, and they need to go online to research when the best time to go is! But you don't know that they don't have a hay ride and only have a grain ride until you show up and pay admissions, in fact you don't know anything until after you pay admission! Save your money there are plenty of other Farms to go to!. And $20 per child. Definitely not worth the drive from phx. My rebuttal to reply; Repeat i was there on Friday and there was no hay ride or pony ride. And you want people to drink from the hose? And I found 1 fountain. And I wish I would have taken a pic of it to show your idea of drinkable water! And as I will Repeat once more, it used to be worth the drive. But I can't say the say anymore. I've worked with event planning before and the price for entry fee alone, you...
