Heroes Skate Park — Attraction in Dickinson

The ground is smooth and is a decent sized park. There is everything you need if you look far enough away and you can tell money was put into the park. However whoever built it or designed it probably never skated in his or her life. There is coping where there shouldn’t be, and the coping on transition doesnt stick out (at all) so you cant lock in grinds which is dangerous. The halfpipe is hard to skate with the lack of coping and the dimensions. It would be better just to have a well built mini ramp. One hubba is missing cement and is unskatable. The sprinkler system sprays into the park when it kicks on. It’s also on the edge of town so the wind can be fully experienced. The death box has round coping that sticks out, which should be on transition. Also the hubba in the middle of the park has round coping at the end (dangerous) because if your wheels clip you will go down without your board. And this would have been a neat spot for manual tricks. There is negligible runup to the biggest stairset in the park, but there is for the smaller one. The only flatbar in the park is the highest flatbar i’ve ever seen in a skatepark and i rarely see anyone use it, not because it’s unusable, but it just makes learning new things unnecessarily hard. Fun can be had in skateboarding wherever you go, and this park is fun, but i just feel like money was really wasted on this park due to...

DONT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD HERE!!! There is a big problem with kids at this park. Yes it is a park, but it is not a day care. I skate at this park regularly and 95% of the time there are children there with no bikes no scooters no skateboard. They use this area as a play ground while their parents are watching their other child play soccer. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!! On multiple occasions I have seen a child run into a skater boarders path, and get injured. The skaters are very concerned for these children and ourselves. This is NOT ok. If you are a parent who has a child in soccer and let’s your other children just run around the area, STOP, us skaters hate it when the children hangout there because they get into our way and sometimes we are not able to see them.
