This museum was surprisingly well put together and much more extensive than I expected. There is definitely plenty to see! I did have a few issues with some areas, and my issues are not related to the main message the museum is trying to convey.
the museum boldly claims that the earth is 10,000 years old “just like the Bible says it is.” That is very divisive and misleading, because the Bible does not say such a thing, and assumptions and interpretations have to be made by the reader to make that leap using scripture alone.
Some of the Bible verses that the museum provides as evidence actually do nothing to support the theory they are being used to defend. An example: using Job 41 to support that the biblical leviathan is actually a mosasaurus. All I had to do was pull Job 41 up on my phone while in front of that exhibit to see that it is too vague to support the mosasaurus and lists other descriptors that do not support the mosasaurus theory. The museum also made other claims (such as having the only “musical Tesla coils” in the world) that were completely debunked by a simple Google search. They also presented at least one planetary piece of evidence that has been firmly debunked (related to earth’s magnetic field.) It left me wishing they paid a little more attention to their content and messaging.
I was pretty uncomfortable by how the museum’s creator (David Rives) was in every facet of the museum. His face, his voice, videos of him, artifacts he found, his name, his stories, etc. It gave the impression that the theories and evidences presented were his and his alone, and that the museum was focused on him alone and not what other scholars have been researching.
Overall I’d like to go back to read more of the exhibits and see it once it’s fully complete. The quality and quantity of the exhibits is incredibly good, and the planetary “show” is stunning, although maybe not worth $10 extra. This museum is at least worth checking out, but with a critical mind and taking its evidences and theories with a...
Read moreDated and incomplete. $35 for admission is a Joke. Incomplete, horrible taxidermy, it's very obvious it's still under construction which makes me fear what they'll charge whenever it is "complete." Save your money and go learn real science and world history at Adventure Science Center in Nashville, its 10 times the size and 100 times the content for half the admission cost. Also it's insane that at that price it's still another $10 for the planetarium.
The planetarium show also presents several problems, outdated and largely disproven theories in support of a young universe. Theories that are agreed upon by Christian and Non-christian scientists alike. Such as the the theory of degenerative magnetic field for our earth. Also the conclusions to almost everything in the show was "Well if the universe was old it couldn't be like this, so it must be new." It shuts down all questioning of the way the universe operates, which I suppose isn't surprising, it's just par for the course for them. Question nothing and blindly follow. I had hopes this place would have something interesting to add to the question of where we come from, but it's just another tax haven propaganda machine for a ministry.
Side note when the ministry took over the current employees of the building were offered to stay at the cost of their health and life insurance, but don't worry they were offered a dollar raise in return....
Read moreWe had a fantastic day! The Staff are all very nice and helpful. The building is very easy to access and plenty of parking available. Not everyone in our group is a Christian and even they had an amazing time! There are 2 wings and each wing has multiple large rooms you can go in and out of, and every room is different. For example, one room is all about Primates, another is about Plant Cells, DNA, and Fossils just to name a few. You can go into the rooms, or not, it’s up to you.
We paid for Planetarium tickets and they were totally worth it! Then we watched the Tesla Coils light up!! Wow!! Our guide was very knowledgeable and he answered anyone’s questions at the end.
There is an elevator for those that need it too! You can even pack a lunch and eat inside near their Cafe. You will also find a rogue dinosaur running about to say “hi” or give a high five. I felt very safe with my kids there and can’t wait to return. They are adding on an Escape Room later on and so much more. So don’t wait to visit as I’m sure as the word gets out, this will be a very popular place for people...
