One of the interesting attractions to see in the Grant Grove of Kings Canyon National Park is the Fallen Monarch.
This is a fallen giant sequoia with a large hollowed out space that has been used over the centuries by Native Americans and early pioneers as a shelter, hotel and even a saloon during the late 19th century.
You'll find the Fallen Monarch along the walking trail that makes way through the Grant Grove. You can walk through the open trunk of the ancient tree through its middle and out the opening 20 metres away.
