We stayed at the Mountain View bluff of the state park and really enjoyed it. This section of partial hook ups sits up on a bluff that overlooks Starvation Reservoir. They have electric and water hook ups. Canopy's over the picnic tables and firepits. All sitting on a concrete pad. The RV pad made of asphalt making it really east to level. Our spot was surrounded with grass which was really great for the kids. But be aware not all the spots have grass.
The overall cleanliness of the Mountain View area was very clean and well taken care of. The showers have warm running water and are fairly clean for bring a state ran facility which was nice. There is a nice large open grass area right near there showers for lawn games if you so please.
You also don't fill like you are packed in like sardines. There is plenty of distance between each RV spot. Plenty of parking for those hauling boats in a separate boat parking area right next to the showers.
The beach section of the park is a short drive (1/4 mile )from the Mountain View RV are. Plenty of parking, boat ramp, and. Beach large enough for all the RV patrons and visitors alike. Though later in the season as the water drops it can be a couple of hundred yards from the parking lot to the water. But the summer water is worth the walk as it is fairly warm mid -season.
Cons - It was breezy with a couple of stronger gusts the three days we were there. But over all a non issue for us.
So if you are looking for beautiful scenery (red rock, bluff type), not super crowded, away from the city, inexpensive ($28 a night) lake type RV park place to hit up this...
Read moreWe reserved the Indian Loop group site for a collecting point before entering into Desolation Canyon for a raft trip. The group site is fantastic. The restrooms are clean the reservation system is easy to use, and the area can easily accommodate six trucks with trailers and rafts on them leaving plenty of room for people to sleep. The water front is beautiful. Nice to get out of the truck and walk around the lake, and kids love to play in the water. The covered Pavilion offers you an opportunity to set up a dinner for everyone or a breakfast before you head out to the river. Park staff is very kind and helpful. Highly recommend this park if you need a collecting spot for people traveling from many different directions. Keep in mind that the production nature of this area means that there is a constant stream of semis on the highway and moving through town. I would recommend bringing some earplugs to help dampen the noise a little at night. The town of Duchesne offers you an opportunity to pick up any last minute items you need or enjoy a nice Mexican dish or other food items. Keep in mind that this lake is Breezy so wind is likely during your stay. Our State and National parks can use all the support they can get right now, so give it a try if this area might fit...
Read moreOverall really nice. Stayed at the Beach campground. All the sites that back in on the water are great, the the ones in the middle can get a little clustered when it's busy. Also, while there is plenty of room between the sites, every sites sunshade and firepit are behind the site so you will always be seeing your neighbor. However, the sites are right on the water so it''s pretty great. If you're looking for a little more peace and quiet, the mountain view campground was much quieter and also had some very nice facilities.
Only critique would be that there needs to be some weed control done. If you look on google maps or some of the campground websites you'll see nothing but sandy beach behind the campsites. While there is sandy beach, it's pretty overrun with weeds at the moment. Minor complaint but something that should probably be taken care of. Other than that, friendly staff and spotless restroom facilities, and while the drive between Heber City and Duchesne is beautiful, there is nothing between them and some pretty steep grades that burned up my gas while towing so if you think you need gas in either of those towns, make...
