An absolute ripoff for $90 which the pro (Grant Lancaster) said was a discount because of the poor conditions --- which we were NEVER informed of. Do Not Book this course and do so at your own risk...Shame on this staff for taking our advance booking and not telling us --- and then to charge NINETY BUCKS IN OCTOBER FOR A COURSE that I wouldnt play for FREE . that's how poorly conditioned and maintained it is. The first green is a rude disgusting welcome and it got worse ....Every green collar has been poorly -resodded all around the green and the greens are in terrible condition with crabgrass everywhere....Imagine having to allow movement of the ball on almost every green so as not to putt over crabgrass! And not being able to putt from an apron or bounce a ball onto the green because of Sod all around ...and when we sought some refund (50 percent would have been reasonable) alwe were told they would check with the owner and get back to us....over a week --- no call. I call back --- nothing but attitude and excuses from the pro. Consider these quotes from the pro: -- "I guess you had a bad day" ---"I played it, it was fine." --"We aren't in the refund business" --"We haven't gotten many complaints " --"We had no notice of the sod delivery until two days before"
Its a shame this course has gone so far downhill fast. Its a beautiful design and layout among nature and we looked forward to playing it again.
It was a disgrace and for them to charge anything more than $40 for this mess is downright stealing. We will not return in future...
Read moreI have been playing golf for 40 years and have never walked of a golf course, until now. We played on Friday November 3, 2023. There was 8 of us. There was a wedding party that went out two groups in front of us and were a 6some. It took us 3 hours to play the front nine. The group in front of us quit and on the 10th tee, when we caught the 6some, they tried to tell us it was slow in front of them. They were playing from the back tees and all 6 of them hit multiple drives, In-between they were hanging out like they were at a bar. We called the pro shop and they told us 3 times there was no 6some on the course. We took pictures and showed them. After the 10th hole took 25 min. we decided to walk off the course. We met members who were very mad they walked off the course as well. When we complained they gave us free drink chips. When we went to the bar this young dark haired girl did not want to serve us and got her manager. The first thing the manager said was there can be no double shots....no one asked for one. The pours m a drink that was barley a sip. When another golfer not with us bought the same drink it was double the poor I received. This place is poorly run, the girls in the bar were rude and it was a waste of a good day. We spent a total of $1,000 between us and thats how we got treated. If you are in OBX for a trip stay away from this golf course. Carolina Club and The Pointe...
Read moreThis is a beautiful golf club by local standards, but it's poorly managed and that often leads to annoying play. We had two tee times this week. The first one was 7:50am. When we arrived, they were already running 10 minutes behind. This surprised us because their first tee time is 7:00am. How did they wind up running late so early? We returned two days later, this time for the 7:00am tee time (first of the day). We were at the tee box at 7:00am; starter had not arrived yet. A single drives up and tells us that the clubhouse told him to go off ahead of us. We let the single go. The result, we tee'ed off five minutes later. Yes, their first tee box was behind within five minutes of the day starting. Now I understand why. Then they let a series of twosomes out behind us. Twosomes are significantly faster than a foursome so we had to let two of them play through us. Then their ranger came up to us on the 7th hole and asked that we close a half-hole gap that had opened ahead of us. I checked the time. We were playing at four hour pace, which is below their expectation for this course.
They also require carts but have several holes where carts are not allowed on the fairways. Hence, you wind up inconveniently situated relative to your ball and your clubs.
This course is more interesting than the Pointe, which is close by, but the Pointe is better run. We typically enjoy our golf...
