This is a beautiful park, but more importantly, this is the site of burial mounds from the Hopewell Native Americans. There are placards that provide details on the burial mounds as well as other historical information. The park contains a covered picnic bench area, viewing areas (you can see the Illinois/Iowa bridge over the Mississippi), grills, and a playground. There is a public restroom and free parking (including handicapped parking). The park is open dusk to dawn year-round.

This place is very cool! It is amazing to be able to see local history and archeology near by. Although the map of the mounds are sort of confusing one can not help but marvel and enjoy the mystery and experience of learning about ancient American history which is much to often overlooked in history books. It is also very scenic and worth a visit as a park as well.

What a beautiful park! Ancient history hidden right under your feet, high above the Mississippi River Bluffs! Walk the paths, eat a picnic lunch, let the kids play on the playground equipment while you enjoy the view! Water and restrooms on-site too!

I love this place. So many memories through the years. Birthdays and it is right behind our house. This place is calm, green and full of wonder. I wish they would stop spraying the weeds and become an organic park like the many in Dubuque. But they are a bit behind the times in that area. People don't want to be poisoned anymore. That's why organic parks are flourishing in other places. Advertise that it's organic and people will come from all over. We see it everywhere we go. Huge following for that, and they spread the word!!! Stop dropping poison!!! It's so beautiful the way it is. Let the dandelions grow....
