Ocean Adventures Indoor Playground — Attraction in Duquesne

The place itself is clean and staff is very friendly. The play area looked super fun and my son, who just turned 4, could hardly wait to get through the line to go play in the big ball area. They issue wrist bands and name tags, which I think is great. I have 0 complaints about the building or staff. The reason for my 3 out of 5 stars is because the ball area gets real dangerous, real fast and parents aren’t enforcing the positive play rules with their children. There were a few parents up and actively watching their kids but the majority where sitting in the benched area, slumped over with their faces in their phones, completely oblivious. Some of the bigger kids where playing rough, pushing, shoving and throwing balls at other kid’s heads. It got so loud in there- a group of girls where screaming at the top of their lungs. I wouldn’t recommend this place to parents with highly sensitive children. I had my 9 month old son with me and at one point, there were big kids playing in the 0-3 age area. I watched the staff try their best to gently control bad behavior. That stopped the kids for a moment then they were back at it. I had to raise my voice twice while I was there. Once, when a group of 5 girls were pushing each other in the ball area and falling on top of other kids. The second, when my son, who was playing in the ball area, was trampled by a stampede of children running out of one of the party rooms. They had knocked him down and were starting to step on him to get to the slides. I had to get loud and get in there to grab him out. It was insane. The only recommendation I have for the staff is to maybe implement a 3 strike system, where the kids are given a time out when they break the rules. Once- a 5 minute time out, twice- a 10 min, third time- you’re gone with no refund. I can defined respect and appreciate the level of cleanliness to this place. I’ve never walked in and smelled any funky smells or seen it dirty, so cleanliness here is top notch. The playground is lots of fun for the littles, and staff is friendly as well which is pleasant. But I do have one big complaint, and that is that when purchasing tickets, I have to pay a full price ticket when all I am doing there is sitting and watching my kids play. They use to only charge ticket entry if you planned on also getting in on the fun of the playground with your kids, which sometimes I would happily do and have no problem. But there are times when I don’t, and I’m just there to watch my kids have fun, and they now require that regardless, you have to pay. I am super pregnant, I will not be doing anything but sitting in my bottom and watch my kids , I don’t think it’s fair to have to pay for that. Honestly it makes it really hard to afford taking my 4 kids when I also have to pay for myself and my husband to just sit there. It’s the main reason I haven’t been back for a long time, the price isn’t worth it sometimes as a one income household, which is a bummer bc besides that it’s a good place to take...

Took our 5 yr old granddaughter there for her birthday. Place was clean and all the staff were outstanding! There was a birthday party there with plenty of kids, but enough room no place in there was too crowded. I enjoyed watching how patient and gentle the workers were with keeping the kids within safe play, as well as engaging them in their fun along the way. I am putting my focus on the staff, because it's a true blessing to watch people seem to enjoy their jobs and do it with quality. We didn't expect it, and didn't intentionally tell them as we entered that it was the granddaughters birthday, but they took note of it. About half way though the time they announced that she was celebrating her birthday and invited her to choose a special treat! We will definitely be back with more kids in the future!
