The park has three different areas; program, small, and large sections. People sometimes bring their

piney wood dog park used to be a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors while your dog was free to play. in the recent months it has become a prison yard! Michelle, the parks and rec lady is RUDE and talks down to everyone like we are children. She has removed and banned pools in the summer time, shes taking away tables to prevent laptops, and has thrown away all tennis balls in the park. She keeps enforcing stupid rules but fails to fix the actual problems at the park such as massive puddles of water with no drainage. Many dogs have gotten sick from the stagnant water, but she blames it on the pools in the summer time. They have taken away the garbage can at the far entrance and people have been leaving their poop bags piled up where it used to be. I will not be renewing my dogs membership and will be going some where else where we are treated fairly and less like a prisoner. I strongly suggest you do the same. there is a new park opened in Cary with splash pads and much more! They provide artificial turf, concrete, and mulch. Not dirty sand and ripped black weed sheets poking thru which isnt safe for the dogs and also an eyesore! ALSO, the lot seems to be much safer in Cary. CRIME ALERT: One star in the hopes that more people see this and Durham’s parks and recreation division actually does something about it. There have been more and more vehicle break ins at this park over the last year. DO NOT leave valuables in your car at this location. My car was broken into last fall, along with several other vehicles. Luckily, there was nothing of value in my car. There’s been a surge in break ins again recently. I contacted the program coordinator for the dog park to request they do something or put up signs, and they’ve done nothing. These break ins have happened at all hours of the day and evening. They seem to be waiting for times when the park isn’t very busy, so if you pull in and there aren’t many people coming and going from their cars, my advice would be to turn around and leave. They aren’t discriminating in vehicles. New and nice or old and beat up, these thieves will smash your window and take what they can either way.
