Today I went to Nantucket Grill with some co-workers. They planned a surprise socially distant baby shower for me. Very Sweet. We were seated outside with room to stretch which was great. That is where the good times ended. I had to ask the waitress for a drink, since I was last to show (being a surprise and all) she had already brought out the others drinks, which was fine but then I had to ask for mine before she went back inside, and then needed to ask for my refill since non was offered. When we ordered she read mine back and it was correct. Simple, burger with cheese and no bun (pregnancy dietary restrictions, I even told her if it comes with a bun not the end of the world I can take it off, I am super not picky). Food took a little but looked really good when it came out. Unfortunately my burger did not have cheese, so I asked for the cheese and she said not a problem. She then came back out a few minutes later to ask what kind of cheese.......this should have been a question asked when taking the order, I assumed they only had one kind since I wasn't given the option. I said American was fine and she went off again. About 15 minutes later my food finally comes out, It looks GREAT. I cut into my burger and it mooed at me. It was raw, not rare but raw. This was also a question she did not ask and silly me just assumed they only do med well like a lot of places. I like a nice rare burger but being 8 months pregnant its not good for the baby....I need my food actually cooked. I ate my fries which were very good, and the toppings for the burger. We also asked for ketchup and were brought out 1 small to go thing.....for 7 people. After everyone was finished eating we looked over and there were a pair of dirty socks sitting on the window sill near us, our waitress was there when we noticed and her response was not to apologize for the grossness but "oh yeah we have found worse out here"....I'm sorry what?? This was a pretty nice area..was not expecting dirty laundry at our table. The waitress also sat against the pillar next to our table while we were eating and took out her ear pods....assuming thats why she forgot to ask me about my burger..she was focused on whatever she was listening too, she then proceeds to put her hair up....next to our food. Just very odd and overall not great experience. I appreciated the ability to go out to eat for the first time in months but the waitress kind of ruined the experience for all of us. Read moreI was looking forward to a nice dinner with my family and I heard good things about this place and have been wanting to go for some time now. We went in an hour before closing.
When we entered we were not even greeted properly. No “hello” or “how are are you?” The hostess just asked how many of us, sat us down and placed the menus on the table.
It only took us about 5 minutes to decide on our order. Another 5 minutes had passed and no one had came up to us to even take our drink order. We were sitting beside other customers and could see the server attending them. The server would even look at us from time to time (he was a middle aged man with square ish black glasses). Another 10 minutes had passed and the same server kept walking by us still looking. 2 other servers continuously walked past our section for those 10 minutes, even making eye contact with us, seeing that we still had not even had our drinks. I could even see the hostess looking over at our table and still nothing. No one acknowledged us.
By this time we were fed up because waiting over 20 minutes for someone to even take a drink order is ridiculous. It is very simple to go up to a table and say “hey has anyone taken care of you yet?”
As a customer it is not my job to get the attention of a staff member to have someone attend us. I can understand if mistakes are made and servers are not told they have a table but for multiple staff members to see we have not been attended and continue to walk by is not okay.
At this point we felt as if we were being ignored, we felt like the staff was waiting until it was too late to even take our order since it was an hour before closing but even then, if it is too late to order, that could have just been said instead of being sat and ignored by everyone.
We decided it was best to just leave and dine somewhere else where we would not be ignored. As soon as we got up a server came up to us to apologize and said someone forgot to let them know we were there. By that time i feel like it was too late, the server with the black glasses just stood there still looking at us as we left.
I was really looking forward to trying this place out and it was disappointing. To the staff: If you see a table that hasn’t been acknowledged or looks like they haven’t been acknowledged for awhile,...
Read moreOct 3 2025 I visited Nantucket Grill Durham NC FAYETTEVILLE road at around 7:30 pm I decided to treat my FRIEND to dinner what I thought was going to be a Beautiful experience ended in a nightmare!! I had not dined here in years and wasn't sure what to order my Server was pleasant and helpful!! My guestd ordered there food I ordered baked Chicken breast, mashed potatoes and spinach I thought we was all set then I was informed they was out of Chicken breast..Not sure what to order I chose two chicken kabobs with my same sides but the kabobs was very tough and dry ! I asked my server could they just replace it with another protein she said that couldn't be done without a extra charge.I asked could I speak to the manager he came to the table Shawn a male ! He said there is nothing wrong with the Kabobs I said it's tough and dry he said I disagree its glistening and not dry .He said if you want something else pay half for that food and half for a new plate I couldn't believe my eyes and ears I said no ..He then says I'm not letting you order anything else you probably want like it either he refund my order I left Hungry and sat and watched guest eat because of his poor customer service. I asked for the owner of Nantucket Grill information & general manager name he refused to give it to me so I had to call other locations to get the information. A apology was offered by other locations but not the Durham FAYETTEVILLE road location. I left my contack information but the general manager didn't call me and I wasn't going to Stress myself anymore. This is not good customer service and you never ever tell customers that there is nothing wrong with food that they are eating and tasting I had no reason to not tell the truth !! This matter has left me hurt and not understanding what did I do to DESERVE this $79.00 In a Restaurant that I left unhappy & called a person who is not being truthful..I don't know if the true owner of Nantucket may read this but please don't let this type things Continue..It Dosen't take a lot to be kind to people treat others the way you would want to be treated...
