Southern Boundaries Park — Attraction in Durham

Had the raw bar special (oysters, shrimp, crab claws), beignets, gator bolognese, and fried seafood platter (the something-or-other calabash).

Raw bar special was good. Very tasty oysters, but I got some broken shell in one of them. Crab claws were excellent. Shrimp was fine—not much opportunity to impress with poached shrimp.

Gator bolognese was underwhelming for me. Nothing wrong with it, but bolognese over grits just isn't the best combination. The rest of my party liked it, but did not finish it.

Beignets were good. The brown sugar butter sauce they were served with was great on them.

Fried seafood platter was overpriced for the amount of seafood it included. But everything in it was well executed. The crawfish hushpuppies it came with were excellent.

Next time I would order the raw bar special and a basket of the crawfish...

The trail goes behind the public works from this park, so there are areas along this stretch of trail that are not shaded at all during the summer. The restrooms are very clean here and there is a designated parking lot! (Good for traveling with children) Convenient location for people living in the area, but there are better access points to the trail if you plan to go for a longer run and desire a more natural or...

Park has tennis, basketball and geocaching. This park is the trail head for the Third Fork Greenway. I really like the greenway in the morning as dawn arrives. Owls, deer and other wildlife more abundant than other areas. It is very peaceful with longtime regulars that I recognize over the years. The deer also make a loop in the afternoon around 12:20 by Cardinal dr so a lunch ride will often see the family...
