I used to go here as a child, I also took my son when he was young. I loved it in there. We used to go during weekends in the fall, ride on the hayrides walk around Pat the goats, animals, fed them, back then you could anyway. I don't know if they can anymore, buy vegetables, pick pumpkins, get my son a treat, I would get a couple honey sticks for tea those were new back then to me they were anyway, and we'd get fall decorations. I'm good with skipping Halloween, although it can be fun, like haunted hayrides, and the candy, still today I would like that, but not evil,or the bloody stuff I don't like to much, Frankenstein ghost, that stuff's not too bad, but Autumn is my favorite season just love it! I haven't been in years, until recently.I made sure ahead of time and I stopped at a little farm stand in Bridgewater that did not take hip, and she seemed very nice and directed me to come to here that CN Smith would take it, and I didn't realize they were connected all these years anyway when I arrived I asked an employee in the front when I came in, again just to be sure, before I even started to shop.Well she said, yes they took the hip but was explaining something that just seemed to not make sense, I've never heard and was confusing me, still now I don't I don't even remember exactly what she was trying to say, unless I was misunderstanding something, maybe it was me,or it could have been she didn't want to deal with those that don't have a lot of money maybe, to some others, maybe but to me I have a lot,not that she really had to deal with anything, anyways really all I had to do was shop and leave. I didn't need anything else, and if there was going to be a problem, I didn't want to waste mine,or anyone's time because it takes me time for reasons as well shop carefully, and once in a great while unfortunately this stuff does happen meaning condescending, and fake xtra nice doesn't work either, people can tell when it's genuine, and Im not a rude customer not difficult, I also understand people can be difficult, and rude as well, and I didn't, or don't want to be difficult,so I had asked to explain again, like I was repeating it to make sure I understood , I just know it didn't seem to make sense, whatever it was I never heard it before, so then I had to explain myself for that reason, it sounded like if I wasn't spending so much? In other words, I had a little left and it might not have been worth their time, the hip you can spend whatever you want five up to $40 for one person, again I don't know what she was saying so I felt I had to explain to her exactly what was left so I would be able to get the things that I needed and not waste my time or theirs with what I had I can make a little stretch and a long way, also I don't like getting too much, and especially produce just for it to spoil to throw it away wasted, that upsets me,and I don't like that at all with any food whatsoever, once in awhile depending on the situation and at times I Blanche if there is extra to preserve for winter, or if I'm able to cook something and able to share it with another that's a plus!! So there's reasons why I'm careful 5 to ten may not be a lot to some, but to others and can go a long way,if caferul about it So when I was explaining and her condescending remark "well if you're that desperate" got to me a bit.I I certainly was not acting desperate at all, In fact I'm a grateful person, and not at all bragging neitherbut I am.It was embarrassing, it really is humiliating.she was just snotty, and it's embarrassing enough I definitely will not use ebt there, but maybe'll go back again one day someday in a year,or so, but other than that I've always loved that place my mom and dad took us, like I said and then taking my son when he was young, I had always loved going there good memories. I didn't get a chance to look around so I don't know if things have changed or not but it was always a...
Read moreNever returning. We paid $35 for a medium size bag of apples (which is quite a small bag compared to other orchards.) The price didn’t matter; my 3 year old daughter was SO excited to pick apples. When we went to the blue tent, a young woman did not smile & stated the rules- no running, no jumping, no pulling of apples, instead twist the apples off, no overfilling bags…. I looked at her and looked at my daughter and said today is going to be a fun Apple picking day. I told her she could run and pick as many apples as she wanted to. The man walked us to 2 rows of apples to pick from and watched us the whole time. The woman then asked to see my bag & put an x on it. We were the only ones picking apples! I said to her, do you think I’m going to put the apples in my car and come back to fill up the bag again??? She said she just needed to do it. Never returning! If my daughter wasn’t with me, I would have just left and demanded my money back. They are not friendly, not family friendly, and treat their customers as thieves. Who would ever want to return to pick apples from a place that watches you, doesn’t smile, and makes up the most ridiculous rules & has outrageous prices! Drive a little further and go to a nicer place.
ALSO, the girls in the donut barn were unprofessional and rude! I stopped to buy my daughter an icecream since she was so hot. Before I saw the sign, I asked the woman if we could eat the ice cream under the tent where the picnic tables are. She said no, they are probably doing something there. What does that mean???? I told her, my daughter is not eating in the sun, it’s hot, we are going to eat in the tent & if we need to move, they can tell us to. Then I saw the sign that said “tables in tent for eating” & I let her know that the tables in the tent are for customers, and she shut the window on me. Who do all of these people think they are? I was astonished & speechless.
It’s a drive, but we LOVE the Red Apple Barn. Great restaurants, animal farm, dog friendly, many apples to pick with no one watching you & prices are affordable! It’s such a...
Read moreDo not bother going here. First and foremost the employees are rude! We came for the "strawberry festival " because their website said lots of fresh produce, pyo strawberries, play area for the kids etc. Well, not only was the store practically empty, the play area consists of tires in the dirt and an old toddler play house, that's it! Now let me get to my biggest reason for giving it a 1 star review. We were told it's a $13.50 flat fee to start (no matter how much you pick) plus, that only let's 3 ppl in, if you have more in your group you must then pay an additional $4.00 per person. They handed us a large container with 6 smaller ones in it and said anything over the $13.50 you just paid we will charge when you come back up, just dont make them heaping piles. Ok. So we pick our strawberries, not filling the buckets all the way like we were told and when I get back up they tell me I owe them another $30+ dollars. Why? Because what they charged was for 3lbs only and we used all the buckets not just the 3lbs worth. Then why did they hand me all those others and say just dont fill this up? So when I said fine I'll just take the 3lbs they said sorry we can't do that, you picked them so you have to buy them, forcing me to spend almost $50.00 on strawberries! Are you kidding me. Why did you charge me for 3lbs and hand me something that held way more than that? Why not just had me the 3lbs worth and if I ask for more then give me a large bucket? They absolutely could have just sold the ones we didnt want in their store. I'm never...
