My husband has physical therapy due to a broken heel. He has PT in the area that is connected to the YMCA. Originally when his PT started I would sit in the waiting area with my baby. During one of his PT sessions I was encouraged by some wonderful staff to take my 1 year old into this nice little play area while we waited for him to finish. I never wanted to intrude. It was very sweet of the staff to allow my 1 year old to play in that area every time we came. My family and I were going to sign up for a family gym membership after his physical therapy was finished. I used to be a member of the Y. However April 19 2023 at 10:30 am one of the staff decided to tell me and my family I should not bring my baby into the little play area since we don’t have a membership in front of every single parent there. I couldn’t have felt more embarrassed. She said to go on in anyway but it made the situation very uncomfortable. I would have walked out immediately but my little one saw the play area and lit up as usual. She is innocent and obviously would not understand if I didn’t let her go play. I had to bare through my embarrassment. As I stated in the beginning I never wanted to intrude. We were encouraged to bring my little one in the play area by sweet staff members back in late January/early February. Anyhow, as we left some 20 minutes later that same staff member that was cold mannered said that I could still bring my baby. I am not some charity case. I said thanks for letting us play and left. I wish the situation from the beginning could have been handled in a professional manner by speaking to me and my family in private. I did not like that every single parent had to hear that. I do not plan on coming back at all or signing my family up for a membership due to that uncomfortable situation. It was very lovely to meet all the wonderful parents and their children. All the rest of the staff deserve 5 Stars. The establishment is very clean...
Read moreAs much as I understand that the YMCA is a “family oriented establishment“ it’s very aggravating when you pay good money a month to go and do your best to do your workout in peace after a hard days work just to be disturbed by young kids running around while you’re trying to concentrate with no care in the world. I think the staff members should be more attentive to the people who are there to use the facility as it’s deemed to be used. As a workout facility, not a playground. I was in an empty studio by myself with the lights off with one other girl tonight and just out of the clear blue three rambunctious kids came in, turned the lights on and started throwing balls all around and fooling with the equipment, all the while yelling loudly and taking videos. Talking to the staff does not seem to do anything nor do I feel it’s my job to be doing so. I have been to other locations where this problem doesn’t seem to exist, so I don’t understand why it’s such a problem here and this is not the first time. I have no problem with kids being at the gym however, I think there should be an age limit where there should be parental guidance. If you’re serious about your workouts, you may want to steer clear and go to a gym that is more tentative to their hard-working,...
Read moreConvenient options for people who work during the day. Wish there were more late night offerings for aqua fitness classes. Unfortunately due to chronic pain working out on the machines can be very painful for me and in the aqua classes I have a lot more mobility. Other than that, the instructors are great, but there is a rule against patrons walking behind the instructor and it is not enforced like at all. It's a safety hazard, since the pool deck can be slick and one of these people could knock over the instructor. It has been getting progressively worse and all employees in and around the pool need have the importance of this rule...
