Absolutely the worst experience ever. We were purchasing several items, only a quarter of the way through the shop, we were working with a nice saleperson, but when we came to the booth across from the registers, we did not see her. We asked the younger salesperson for help, after asking about several items, the sales girl got very nasty with us and had a bad attitude. She said she was going to ask us to leave, no need because once thag was said, we already walked out! Being antique dealers ourselves with our own store. This was unacceptable how we were treated. Also, considering this was off-season, and the economy being not to good, this was a foolish mistake on them, as we were prepared to spend thousands. Never in 45 years in this business were we spoken to like this. If this was our store and merchandise, we would be thanking them for their business.
Absolutely shocking that the original salesperson or any other sales person did not offer to help and change spots with her. The young sales girl had bad energy from the start with us!
All we can think of is the scene in Pretty woman with Julia Roberts in the Rodeo drive clothing shop. To the shopkeeper- MIstake, HUGE MISTAKE!!! Just really unbelievable and quite frankly di sgusting!
To answer to Leon's response, she was rude from the beginning with an attitude, I supposed exclamations under her breath is normal!!! We did not reach on 9 times, 3 times and w of the times was for a piece at the edge with the tag hanging off, we reached for the tag to see the price. She did not ask us to leave She said she was going to ask us to leave, we walked out!! Big difference! We had no intention of stealing anything, and take offense to that! You could not pay us enough to EVER come back. Every thing we asked about she had an attitude as she was getting it. We have been to your shop several times in the past and made some large purchases, never did we have an experience like this. I suppose for your store being rude to customers is normal. No problem for us as many other shops in your area had no issue doing business with us. If you intend to shop here keep in mind you might not be...

There is a vendor with a very large, also very expensive, selection of blow molds. Be cautious of the ones that have been refinished and make sure to look at them with internal bulb turned on. I did not do so and upon returning home and turning it on i discovered that the colors were way off (Santa's face looks black). Additionally, the paint is not properly applied using an airbrush so the light reveals tons of paint brush strokes. I called an hour later about returning or even just exchanging it for an item from same vendor. They went on about, "well how do we know you are returning the same item you purchased. ... All sales are final". In other words the response was essentially, "caveat emptor, pound salt sucker". No worries, you made a short term profit by losing a customer for life. As they say, every lost customer leads to dozens more.
The photo attached speaks to the quality of the restoration. Looks great until you turn on the interior light. To add insult to injury, we later found the same, unrestored, blow mold at another Adamstown store for half the price. The one from Adam's Antiques will now go to the yard sale as it is yard...
Read moreThey broke a piece I was going to purchase and tried to hide the damage with super glue! I put a piece behind the counter to hold while I was walking around and browsing. It was a vintage anatomical model of a head. I happened to walk by the front desk as I was browsing and saw the piece was pulled down off the shelf and a guy behind the counter was gluing a piece back on. I asked what happened and he wouldn't respond at first. After a while he admitted he broke the piece and was trying to glue it back together. Shady as hell and definitely unethical. Break a piece and try to hide the damage. Forget this place. If I hadn't caught them I'm sure they wouldn't tell me and let me walk out with broken merchandise.
Update.
I'm not surprised by management's response. But the employee was not immediately forthcoming about the damage, not at all. And beyond that, it was treated like it was a comical event with both the employee and the young woman behind the counter smiling and laughing about...
