It was unexpected how cathartic the tradition of this ceremony felt when my family came here to inter my brother. The grounds are beautiful with expansive views of rolling hills and various memorials throughout. The staff is exceptional. Multiple people handle various aspects, from arrival at the parking area through each part of the process. The ceremony is not long, but doesn't feel rushed. I deeply appreciate every person who assisted us, and I have numerous memorable moments from the event I will carry with me.
Notes: It is well-known that the area around the cemetery is more windy than the surrounding geographic area. Be prepared for high gusty winds at the covered committal shelter where the ceremony is performed. The structure is open on 3 sides.
If a rifle detail is part of the ceremony, they will fire the guns (7 rifles fire 3x for the "21-gun salute"). Young children & those with hearing or shock sensitivities should be aware & take precautions (ear covering, stepping away briefly). The salute is performed outside of the covered committal shelter, but the sound echos in the area beneath the roof. So, even stepping outside of the covered area for those few...
Read moreBeautiful cemetery, however, I purchased a lovely arrangement that uses a decorated brick as the base for the flowers. I specifically called a week after Easter to obtain the flower removal date. I was told 10 days after Easter but when my husband arrived 2 days prior to that date, the arrangement had already been cleared. The same thing happened to me last year but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that I had the date wrong. That is why I called this year to double check after purchasing a second one. I place one at another cemetery and have already used it for 3 years and it is still in perfect condition. I would have liked to reuse this one for many years as well. When I called the office I was met with the usual excuses and made to feel like I was being unreasonable. If you like to reuse your arrangement DO NOT believe the removal date that is given. Let's give out correct...

if you go there is a monument to the pennsylvania soldiers there. it is a replica of a bombed out church from world war II era europe. like you might see in france or italy or germany. it is so shocking, i mean its supposed to look like that, but from far away it just looks like an abandoned ruined building thats sitting next to this cemetery. its well worth a look, check...
