A Disappointing First Visit to Impact Church
I had high hopes for my first visit to Impact Church, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. I arrived in the middle of the 11 AM service and stayed for the final service, yet at no point did I feel particularly welcomed as a first-time visitor. There didn’t seem to be a dedicated hospitality team actively looking to greet newcomers, which made the experience feel impersonal. When I stopped by the first-time visitor table, the person there was more engaged with her phone than with making guests feel at home. She briefly directed me to scan a QR code to submit my information before handing me a visitor gift voucher—no real effort to connect, just a transaction.
The voucher itself was underwhelming. It was for a free drink at the café, but it wasn’t made clear that it only covered a small coffee or tea, not any of their premium drink options. If you’re going to extend a gesture of hospitality, it should feel intentional and generous—not restricted and lackluster. Ironically, the sermon that day was about generosity, yet my experience as a first-time visitor felt like the opposite. Overall, the lack of warmth and engagement left me feeling like just another face in the crowd rather than a valued guest. This just wasn’t the atmosphere I was hoping to find...
Read moreI am in the process of trying to find a home church ever since moving back from NYC. and so I visited this church on Palm Sunday b/c I was invited by a neighbor. Everyone was really nice. It is in an old warehouse building that they have really made very nice. As a first time guest they have a separate entrance for you so that when you enter there is a welcoming table. And at the table you scan a code fill out your info and they give you a ticket for a free item at their Cafe bar. That's right they have a cafe inside that sells coffee, tea other beverages snacks, merch etc. I thought that was really cool.
They gave us palms of course it being Palm Sunday and all. Service was great. Praise and worship was so awesome. The main pastor didn't preach that Sunday, but the exec pastor that did, boy did she deliver a word! After service they had activities and vendors outside as well for you to participate. I made a cross out of Palm leaves and bought some ice cream from a church member vendor who also was a soror of mine. It was great. I had a great time and will definitely...
Read moreI had an opportunity to participate in the fall planting volunteer event. The expert exposure to learning critical gardening methods, as well as enjoying the fellowship of like-minded stewards, and absorbing the warmth of the gathering itself was inspiring. (Rev. Jackie was there and I was happy to make her acquaintance! She was so involved, gracious, and welcoming. The youngest farmer enthusiast in attendance could not have been older than 3 years old I believe, but oh, was she on point! She wanted to see, she was hands on, and she helped delegate a few tasks even.) It was really fun.
As a regular volunteer with Metro Atlanta Urban Farms (MAUF), Bro. Bobby Wilson never misses to effortlessly drop jewels on farming best practices. A master class is always available! He never disappoints. He partners with community leadership(s) and continues to make an impact. I understand the true IMPACT of planting seeds, growing our own food, and waiting for a good harvest.
I look forward to attending an Impact Church experience to witness the same...
