Hands down my favorite faire. I've attended faires in multiple states and cities therein. I'm a casual attendee, but I did medieval recreation events for a good chunk of time. I appreciate the welcoming, relaxed, less commercial vibe of this faire.
Pros: *Early bird pricing and seasons passes available. Pricing is not expensive.
Lots of paths through the grounds to explore everything
*Built in infrastructure: permanent buildings for shops and more, ie: a metalsmith shop and a bread oven.
Lots of demonstrations and encampments to check out
Good variation of shops
Good assortment of games/things to try out.
*Cornish pastys (And other interesting foods) in addition to traditional faire food like turkey legs, meat on a stick, ye olde hot dog stand...
Good beer/drinks choices + pub crawl thing if you're into that. š»
Real bathrooms in addition to porto-jons
Birds! Falcons! Owls! Other birds that may also be falcons but I don't remember !! You can interact with birds and they do a show!
Lots of show spaces for entertainment. There's music, magic, comedy, bawdy comedy, and of course, bird show. Also some kind of acrobatics thing..
*Jousting! With real horses and real armor and real badass bettys knocking each other off the aforementioned horses!
Easily accessible first aid
Affordable water
Petting zoo type place! Say hello to ducks, mini horses, a burro and more! (I like animals a lot)
There are shady areas to sit in
The ground is mostly flat. No real hills to trudge up.
The wonderful benefit of an event that has been going for years and hasn't lost its spirit.
Participants are chill. The whole event is chill.
$10 parking and it's not even a far walk Did I mention birds?
Cons: Nothing you can't prepare for.
Can get warm : you can bring in water and personal water bottles to stay hydrated plus water for sale isn't overpriced.
Can be dusty : wear shoes you can clean. Maybe bring some hand wipes or tissues šŗ
You might not have brought enough money to buy all the amazing handmade stuff for sale! š± (Lots of vendors take digital payments + ATM robots are there if course)
That's all I can think of.
It's a gem of an event. I'm truly hopeful it can continue. GO TO KORONENBURG RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreš”š”š”š”š”š”āļø Hark, good sirs and gentle dames! If thou dost seek a day of mirth and revelry, prithee, make thy way to the Koronsburg Medieval Festival! 'Tis a wondrous spectacle that doth transport one to the days of yore, where knights and fair maidens doth abound.
Upon entry, thou art greeted by a host of characters most merry, from the jolly friar with his endless jesting to the wench with a flagon of ale that doth never run dry. The marketplace is a bustling haven, filled with merchants hawking wares most curiousābe it finely crafted goblets or garb fit for a king.
The victuals, oh the victuals! Methinks I have never tasted turkey legs so grand, nor quaffed ale so hearty. And the mead! Sweet nectar of the gods, 'tis sure to warm the heart of even the coldest knave.
The entertainments are of a quality most rareājousting knights, whose valor knows no bounds, minstrels who play tunes that set thy feet to dancing, and jesters whose antics cause even the most stoic lord to guffaw. Be wary, though, of the mischievous sprite who doth play pranks on the unwary!
Five stars I do bestow upon this festival, for 'tis a day of joy and laughter that doth linger in the memory long after the sun hath set. So don thy best doublet and hose, and hie thee to the Koronsburg Medieval Festival, where merriment doth await thee...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the best and my most beloved medium ren faires, and the best alternative to the Southern Pleasure Faire in Irwindale.
What I loved most about Koroneburg is having the feeling of being immersed in a medieval town, the rest of the world a memory away. Lively crowds of patrons, people in garb walking up and down interacting with you. Not having to wait in live for 40 minutes just to get a $17 bottle of water!
Kburg is closer to what ren faire used to be; a commune, a home for talented and crafty people; letting each other be something other than normal. A place to play, to experience, to learn something and do what you wouldn't do -- couldn't do -- outside. Without being Disneyland, for all its business, expenses, and overly packed throngs.
Kberg is also a Germanic-themed faire, which is rare when most ren faires are Elizabethian. This is something different, and I relish that.
Play the games. See the shows. Get a meat pie, maybe 2. Get the mango lassi; you won't regret it. Buy some craft soap; and if you see someone with a bell and a sign that says "Don't ring the bell". You...
