Wish I could give this more stars. During the warm seasons, I attempted this trail 5 times. Alone, with a dog, a friend, my spouse. Hated it. Hot, buggy, obscured views of the creek. Never made it to the end...the waterfall. Not anyone's fault. Just my personal, least enjoyed things about the great outdoors.
I tried again the last day of February. It was delightful. Bright, sunny, mackerel skies. Temps in the upper 40s. Full view of the glimmering creek and finally made it to the waterfall. Saw a couple with their toddler wading there, despite the lower temperatures. Bring a camera or binoculars if you're a bird lover.
I spent some extra time just taking it all in, letting nature unravel life's daily concerns from my body and mind. Reminiscing about a childhood full of great memories playing in "the crick" with my sister.
In any season, the trail is flat and easily walkable. A one mile out and back with mile markers. Always clean. Never crowded. People are polite and carry out what they carry in. Folks of all ages & fitness levels. All dogs leashed. I recall at least two pup clean-up stations. At the trailhead, there are bathrooms (that i haven't used) & a picnic table. Sadly, forgot to look for a water fountain there; unsure. Parking lot is the perfect size to accommodate visitors, keeping the walk to the trail short. Very little traffic noise considering its proximity to the roadway.
Sadly, I did notice three, freshly grafitti-ed boulders near to the waterfall. I'll be reaching out to volunteer get those clean in a manner that does no harm to the surrounding area.
This is my new go-to during the fall and winter season.
*NOTE: Near to the waterfall, a bend to the east seemed to be a true hiking, not walking, trail. I've never heard it mentioned and didn't know it's length or complexity. I didn't travel it far, just a peek. Decent slope, narrow, would imagine could be quite slippery on a humid day, with morning dew or after...
Read moreGreat little trail for a quick escape from the daily grind. Wide open trail with soft gravel for the trail. At the end of of 1 mile trail is a small waterfall. The trail itself doesn't curve much and very easy to walk with only a slight incline at the ends. I saw bikes riding on the trail but everyone was mainly walking. Restrooms are available at the trail head and also a good size shelter for a nice outdoor dining experience. Multiple benches are available along the trail for you take a break and multiple poop and scoop...
Read moreIt's a nice and easy walking trail. Pretty flat throughout. Has a good amount of benches and poop bag/trash cans along the way. It's very clean and well maintained. If you're going to go while there is snow on the ground, I recommend using a walking stick since some areas get icy...
