We just had our wedding here yesterday, and it couldn't have gone more perfectly than it did. Elaina and Leila (I apologize if I mispelled either of your names) at Captain Avery's went above and beyond to make sure that the venue was perfect, and that we had everything we could possibly need. Through the coordination between them, Whitman's Catering, ANewbyS photography, and our wonderful DJ, they made our dream wedding come true. We can't thank or recommend them enough!

We went to the Oyster festival this past weekend. Perfect weather and delicious oysters. My only complaints: they might want to get some additional shuckers the line for the oysters was super long. I'd love to see some drink options that include spiked seltzers (maybe they we were and we missed them?). Overall though, totally worth the drive from DC to spend the day outside with live music, the Bay, family, and oysters!

Attended their annual Oyster Festival in support of the working waterman of Maryland. This is a fantastic event and one that I hit every year. The oysters are superb and right out of the bay. There's fantastic bloody mary's provided by George's mix and of course, beer and wine. With live music from two different bands, this is just an all around wonderful event.

Captain Avery Museum in Shady Side is a charming spot if you're curious about local history and Chesapeake Bay life. The historic house is well-maintained, with interesting exhibits about boats, watermen, and how local families used to live. The setting is lovely — gardens, a dock, and waterfront views make it peaceful. They also host events like oyster festivals or outdoor concerts, which really enhance...
