My wife and I recently attended a evening event to watch a local band at President's Park. The park is located in Edgewood Kentucky. First of all let me extend my gratitude to the city for thinking of its residents in creating this concert series. It really is a great idea. The park is well maintained by the Edgewood City crew. However,I can not recommend it as a venue for a band or concerts. This park is strictly designed for small family gatherings and picnics. There's absolutely no available parking. The outdoor shelters that are available are for picnicking and not sound stages. The band that set up the evening that I was there had electrical problems due to an overload and blew up one of their amplifiers and they also had soundboard issues. The acoustics are not particularly good either. There was a raucous basketball game going on the entire time the band was playing that interfered with hearing the band and the basketball court is located in close proximity to the shelter where the band was set up. Small children who were with parents from the concert looked like they were trying to also use the basketball courts but we're unable to because the adult males who were there would not yield to them. More than half of the parking for the evening event must be done at St Pius X Church since parking is so limited inside President's Park. Realistically I can appreciate what Edgewood officials are trying to do but I don't think this park is the ideal location for this event. I think it is a great idea I just wish they could come up with a better location for it. I applaud their ideas and there thoughts for the public. They have taken the time to consider there residents and given them a very worthwhile activity for the summer which is more than a lot of other cities have done. I just think the location needs to be reconsidered. Thank you again City...
Read moreWoohoo! I didn't have much time but Sir Rebellious insisted. As I navigated through the neighborhood;wondering.... What do people that live here do for work? It was an peaceful drive on a two lane well maintained road. No traffic. The hospital and college are nearby the park certain hours it's busy. You have to actually turn on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? Great opening. Everywhere was groomed with care. Paved, looped pathways, lead you into houses of historic interests, gardens or a baseball/ football field. The paths do not have much of an incline. Looks like could be wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms were open. Plenty of benches to sit, rest or just take up some shade. There is a pavilion, tennis courts, playground, I didn't see it all. Will definitely go again. The walkway has the presidents and when they served. Out of...
Read moreThe playground rebuild has made it significantly worse if there's any sort of sun. They did a good job replacing the equipment with inclusive stuff, but did they have to tear down all of the surroudning trees and bushes, leaving every inch of the park fully exposed to the sun? And with the switch to the soft rubber instead of wood chips, the ground absorbs and reflects the heat too, making it truly unbearable to play at. Additionally, they walled off the whole playground, so now parents can't walk over and sit on the nice swing while watching their kids because there's 2 locked gates in the way.
Words cannot fully express how disappointed I am in...
