We purchased tickets online. The process was harder than it should have been. You pick a time slot to enter. (This time does not matter. Everyone enters when they get there. There is no staging area for times). You must enter a security line and go through a metal detector (no bags, backpacks, or purses). Once you do that, you go to the ticket booth with your QR code and receive a paper ticket. The Hayride. We waited in line for 60 minutes. Got onto the trailer bed. You have to sit cross-legged. There is nothing to lean up against, so it could be uncomfortable for some. The total ride took about 20-25 minutes. There were 7 or 8 different scenes. There were a lot of animatronic (some were quite large), and live flames. There weren't as many live actors (3-4 per scene). There weren't many jump scares, especially if you were in the center of the trailer. There was one overhead live actor. The Maze. It took about 15 minutes to walk through. There were a good number of animatronic and props. The Maze had a good number of live actors. The jump scares were pretty good. The Haunted House. Took 12 minutes to walk through. The props were OK. The number of live actors was decent. Not as many jump scares as the Maze. PROS: Parking is free. The entrance fee includes all 3 attractions. There is food and drinks available. They have a souvenir shop. They have port a potty. There are plenty of photo opportunities. Did see someone using a walker, so there is room to manuver. CONS: You pick a time slot to enter, and it isn't used. The dust was horrific (if you have breathing or respatory issues, wear a mask). To many people at a time through the attraction (15 people doesn't allow the actors time to reset to scare parts of the group (smaller group size would allow for more jump scares). There was nowhere to eat the...
Read moreIf patience isn't a virtue of yours, you may want to pass. Our travel to the destination was fine until the last five minutes. That turned into 20-25 minutes to enter this popular realm of a couple thousand people. The employees work hard to direct traffic. Please be patient and follow directions. In fact, every employee we encountered throughout was delightful. They all genuinely seem to have the same goal of keeping the crowds moving and ensuring all have a good time. There are porta-potties before entering the first line. Yes, you will be herded like cattle, but the lines are always moving. First stop will screen for safety. Cell phones and keys go on the nearby table as you walk through the scanner. Then back to the cattle chute until the ticket check-in for online purchasers. Have your phones ready with the codes to be scanned. You will be given a paper ticket to present at each of the attractions. There is another location nearby to purchase tickets onsite. Back in line until the haunted hayride. There are photo ops and portapotties before the line for the hayride. This line moved very fast! Although we didn't purchase VIP tickets, throughout the night we witnessed employees directing those who did. They do their best to move VIP ticket holders along first, and at times, there are separate lines for them. After the hayride, one can choose the sequence of the haunted trail and the haunted house. You will definitely want to hit all of them though! Food, beverages, coffin rides? gift shop, photo pickup, ax throwing, porta potties are all in the final area. We purchased delicious apple cider donuts. "That was so fun", "I had the best time", "the long lines were worth it", were some of the statements made by members in our group. We had a great...
Read moreWent here this past weekend - 10/22/22. There is a reason we haven't been here in 10+ years and now I remember why.... Paid $90/person for VIP. I wouldn't of paid $30/person for VIP if I would of known better. Thankfully we didn't wait in them long a$$ lines for the same outcome, or I would of been even more dissatisfied if that's possible. Overall, Don't waste your time or money. We got there at 8:30pm, we were finished all 3 attractions by 9:09pm. They were rushing us through each event. We specifically go to PA haunted houses every year for the #1 scare and best haunts. This in my opinion, shouldn't be on the top 25 list in the Nation. #1. The Haunted Hayride just went through each section, never stopped to interact or provide a short story etc. Actors wouldn't briefly reach to touch or scare you. (Not sure if it's COVID related but this is the first place since COVID we've been to that didn't try to grab/touch to scare) Great animatronics though. #2. The scarecrow field or whatever it's called barely had actors in it. That was a 4-5min. walk through. #3. The Bates Motel itself was the best out of all 3 events but also very short in length (8mins) and not scary. Still I'd rate that at 3.5/10. This place is just a rip off and cash cow for the owners for sure. Other places have 4-5 events. This place only had 3, and then had the audacity to rush you through them! If you want a place worth the time, money, and it's scary even for adults, go to Pennhurst Asylum, Haunted Mill (now Kim's krypt) or even Field of Screams. On that note, I wish everyone a Happy Halloween. Have fun and be safe out there but don't waste even a THOUGHT going to this...
